What has let the film down :

1) The main minus point of this film is the script. The script and story is so routine and bored that right from the scene one, this film gets quite predictable and have absolutely nothing new to offer. Infact, the story line of the film is quiet similar to Mahesh Babu’s ‘Bobby’. The whole film has an artificial feel as none of the characterizations are properly written which is the biggest disappointment. It could have been better if the writing department could have worked properly on the script.

2) There are many illogical scenes in the film like –

* The heroine just falls for the hero after taking with him over a night which is meaningless. The proper emotions of her realizing that she has met her man and the likeable moments between the lead pair are not showcased properly.

* The hero losses his brother and the heroine losses her father but they take it so casually without expressing any emotions at the moment and go on to sing a duet there after which is ridiculous.

* The hero and heroine get married and there is no amount of emotion showcased on their faces while they are exchanging their garlands or after that which is seriously surprising.

* In the climax, we just don’t get to know from where the hell Abhimanyu Singh lands in with all his blood on his face. The climax is very silly and baseless.

* On a whole, the film is like, just for the lead pair to live happily, all the remaining characters go on a killing spree and turn dying towards the end.

3) Director Vasu Manthena completely failed in executing the film. His inexperience and inconsistency in handling the crucial episodes is clearly felt in each and every scene. The script runs on a dry patch and the narration of the film will tests ones patience. He could not showcase the romance of the lead pair, emotions in different characters and other comedy scenes properly on screen. Another thing is that there is no proper reason why it was titled ‘Basthi’. Vasu stumbles completely in creating a major conflict or reason for everything and many scenes were not detailed completely. Overall, this film is one of the worst love stories ever told in Tollywood.

4) Shreyan Kapoor, son of Veteran actress Jayasudha has failed to make an impressive debut with this film. He was just limited to a couple of expressions throught the film. He is tall, lanky and smart enough but he could not gain pass marks with his performance in this film. In fact his role was half baked as a result he could not get the scope to perform either. He needs to improve in almost every aspect like expressions, dances, dialogue delivery, body language etc.

5) The main reason of the enmity between Mukhesh Rushi and Abhimanyu Singh is not clearly justified in the film. Mukhesh Rushi, Kota Srinivas Rao and Abhimanyu Singh’s characters are not properly designed and all the there have done the roles on a very lighter note without much intensity. Snigdha looked as if she was over acting in some scenes while she was drunk and could not provide the required fun which was expected from her character.

6) The film has absolutely zero entertainment in it. All the comedy scenes and comedians failed to impress with their humor. Ali’s comedy as Lord Brahma was senseless. Even Sapthagiri’s track was horrible. Sathya tried very hard to tickle the fun bone with his romantic sub track with Snigdha, but could not towards the end.

7) Even the technical department failed to lift the film in any manner. The screenplay is very predictable in the first half and gets wayward during the second. The cinematography by Gunashekhar had nothing amazing in showcasing the visuals on screen. Editing by Gautham Raju had many lags and the transition between the scenes are very abrupt. The background music never connects with the mood of the film. Production values of Vazman Productions are low.

8) The dialogues were were routine and there is nothing special into it. Especially the lines at the climax are very silly and do not strike a chord with the viewers. The placement of songs is another drawback in the film. Soon after the interval, you get to see an item song from anchor Rashmi Gautam which is no way connected to the proceedings.

Whats is better in the film :

 1) Heroine of the film Pragathi is the only one who was decent in the film. This is her debut film and she has done a pretty nice job with her performance. She looked cute just like a normal Telugu girl in the film and also looked gorgeous in the songs too.

2) The tunes composed by Praveen were fine and can be passable in the film. ‘O sari naa vanka’, ‘A touch of love’ songs are good to hear. ‘Pyar ka naam’ and the item song too were nice attempts.

Verdict :

Don’t know how a senior actress like Jayasudha, choose a film of this sort as the debut vehicle for her son, Shreyan. ‘Basti’ is a film which will neither impresses you with its story nor with some promising technical support. To say, this is a very poorly made film that doesn’t deserve to be watched as it bores the viewers to the core.

Thumbs Up :

1) Firstly debut director Sushanth Reddy should be credited coming up with a new and innovative concept of kidnapping a Super Star. There are plenty of kidnap stories in the past but kidnapping Mahesh Babu is a fresh though. The way he has linked up the stories of between Nandoo, Adarsh and Bhupal to the core idea of the kidnap was perfect. Direction wise, Sushanth Reddy has done a decent job with the minimum resources he had at his disposal. The introduction scenes of all the lead characters and the way he has used Mahesh Babu in the film is impressive.1

2) The major plus point of the film is definitely the performances of the three young actors who played the lead roles in the film- Aadarsh, Bhupal & Nandoo. Adarsh was perfect as the spoilt brat who is the son of a Telugu film producer. Nandoo is okay as a jealous, jilted lover. Bhupal wins your heart as an innocent guy who wants to become a director and narrate a script to Mahesh Babu. He makes us laugh with his Telangana dialect and funny body language. On a whole, all the three have given their best for the film and did complete justice to their roles.2

3) Comedian Vennela Kishore is the surprise package in the film. His character starts after the important twist at the interval and he carries the entire second half on his shoulders along with the lead actors. His acting and comedy timing is pretty decent. His character perfectly suited to the story and he has done a commendable job with his performance and punch lines.3

4) Shraddha Das is seen in a very new avatar in this film as a lady Don called Farah Khan alias Lady Gabbar Singh and she nailed her character with her performance. Poonam Kaur too was cute and pretty as the cheating lover of Nandoo. Though both of these heroines were seen in short roles, they impressed the audience with their acting abilities.4

5) Think this is the first film where Fish Venkat plays a full-fledged villain role with a comedy touch and he is quiet funny in his role. Posani Krishna Murali was fine towards the climax. Rest of the cast including Tagubothu Ramesh and other were ok in their roles.5

6) The cameo performances by Manchu Manoj, Allari Naresh, Nani and Tanish gives a good boost to the movie and to say these are the best scenes of the film where you can hear whistles in the theater. Even Mahesh Babu was well utilized in the film. Even though he did not act in the film, his footage from his various films and from his real-life appearances in some events are well showcased on screen and will reach out to his fan base.6

7) Music by Sai Kartheek was good and he has provided a peppy album for the film. Even his background score compliments the scenes pretty decently. The songs also look situation without acting as speed breakers to the script.7

8) Editing by Baswa Paidireddy was good and he made sure that the main plot doesn’t have much lag. The film is 117 minutes odd and is adequate for a film like this. Art work work by Tirumala Rao deserves a special mention too.8

Thumbs Down :

1) The routine narration of the script is the biggest drawback for the film. These type of kidnap stories have become common these days and have been seen in numerous films recently like ‘Run Raja Run’, ‘Dongaata’ etc. Due to this, the scenes coming next become very predictable in this film which on a whole made this film to be an ok watch. Even the initial plans to kidnap a star like Mahesh Babu in public places lack proper presentation on screen.9

2) The second half of the film is little low when compared with the first half of the film. The total second half only revolves around how Vennela Kishore plans the kidnap drama after the twist at the interval. The inclusion of Shraddha and Posani have not been properly justified in this half as they look just to create further confusion with to the kidnap drama. After an interesting first half, the plot becomes less gripping in the second. 10

3) Eeshwar’s cinematography could have been much better in the film. His camera work was plain and was not up to the mark. The way he has shown the kidnap sequence is also very poor.11

4) The dialogues are pretty ordinary and do not add much weight to the film. The comedy in the film too is not executed well and properly handled as Fish Venkat and Posani are rather underutilized in the film.12

5) Even the logical aspects in the film were left aside like –

* How can a drug packet get opened up itself in a swimming pool?

* How can a normal person get through regular checking and reach a celebrity caravan that easily?

* How can they kidnap a star without anyone’s notice in the set?

* It’s hard to believe a guy indulging in high risk of kidnapping a celebrity for a cheating girlfriend.

* Don’t know what was Manchu Manoj doing in the film? His fight scene was meaningless.

* Mahesh Babu’s hoarding scene towards the climax is foolish.13

6) Production values of Chandu Penmetsa and Lucky Creations are pretty weak. Little more of budget was mandatory to make a better impression with the overall product of the film. The animation sequence in the second half clearly justifies this point.14

Verdict :

With some decent performances from the lead cast and an innovative plot of kidnapping a super star, ‘Super Star Kidnap’ can be best seller this week. But with the predictable narration, this film will just turns out to be an ok ok type film. On a whole, watch this film only if you don’t have any alternate work this week!!

Minus Points :

1) The script of the film rides on a wafer thin plot which offers very little humor here and there. The script of the film is so week that every scene looks very bored and routine in nature and none of the characters are well-etched out too. In fact the first half of the film doesn’t have a proper story at all. The film is all about lining up conflicts and resolving them one after the other to get to a happy ending towards the end. All the romantic scenes between the lead pair too look bored as they are not well written. Overall the film just treads aimlessly with the hope to entertain.1

2) Director S.R.Prabhakaran, whose debut film ‘Sundarapandian’ was a smash hit in Tamil, fails totally in excuting this film. The film escalates into a major disaster because of the over dramatic twists and the routine message placed in the script towards the end which the audience are watching it from many decades in some number of films. He has downplayed Udhayanidhi’s role to an extent where the sizeable supporting characters are given prominence in the script. The screenplay too is very poor.2

3) Udhayanidhi Stalin has improved a lot with this film when compared with his debut flick ‘Ok Ok’ but he still needs to fine tune on his expressions and dialogue delivery. His expressions are so week while he is dancing that you feel like looking at the heroine or the dancers back of him during the songs. He should also concentrate on the types of scripts he is selecting and avoid playing safe games with these types of routine scripts.3

4) Santhanam once again repeats his friend act for the umpteenth time and as usual delivers his love punches with ease. But this time many of these punches fall flat and fail to bring in laughs in the theatre. He just manages to impress in some scenes with his one liners especially his lines in the TV showroom scene he just brings the floor down. But if you look at on a whole, Santhanam never looks like an added bonus to the film in any manner.4

5) The film never connects with the telugu audience as this is a typical Tamil style rom-com where the hero and heroine fall in love for no particular reason and everything else falls into place with an emotionally manipulated climax along with some songs in foreign locations. The emotional scenes and the patch up scenes in the second half no way connect with the viewers as they are fed up watching these type of typical scenes right from their childhood.5

6) The way the director handled the sub plots in the film is very poor. In the film you have a conflict between the hero’s sister and her husband, a small dispute between neighbors and a father’s unyielding trust on his family who hates love marriages. All these issues are resolved in a matter of two or three scenes in a very convenient cinematic fashion that nothing seems to be a serious enough. Even the final problem of convincing hero’s dad is resolved with a couple of heavy-handed sentimental dialogues which is not acceptable.6

7) Another major problem with this film is that it blindly follows in the footsteps of ‘Ok Ok’. Both these films have a lot in common like –

* Both the films feature a heroine who initially falls for a wrong guy and is subsequently saved by the hero who bowls her over.

* In both the films, Santhanam is the one who will be helping Udhayanidhi to woo the girl of his dreams.7

8) Music by Harris Jayaraj is just about average in the film. You hardly remember even one song as you walk out of the theatre. The placement of the songs is another major drawback for the film as it bores the already boring film. His background score also did not have much effect on the screen this time.

Nayanthara, Udhayanidhi Stalin in Seenu Gadi Love Story Movie Stills

9) Don Bosco’s editing is not sharp enough. The film has many dragged scenes in both the half’s of the film. Almost about 20 odd minutes could have been trimmed out have which could have done something better for the film.9

Plus Points :

1) Cinematography by Balasubramaniem is the biggest plus to this film. The film looks appealing only because of his camera work and they way he has shown the film in good light. He has shown all the foreign locales quiet beautifully on screen and has captured some beautiful moments with his camera in the indoors too.10

2) Nayantara is at her usual best as Pavithra and does what is expected from her. She adds a huge value to the film with her impressive performance and gorgeous looks in the songs. Despite her de-glam avatar, she dominates Udhayanidi in all their scenes together with her experience and charm.

Actress Nayanthara in Seenu Gadi Love Story Movie Stills

3) Sunder Ramu was fine as the baddie who goes after Nayan in the film. Aadukalam Naren is perfect as the strict, angry father of Udhayanidi and Saranya Ponvannan is loving and supportive as his mother. Jaya Prakash and Vanitha are good as Nayan’s parents while Bharath Reddy and Chaya Singh give a decent performance as the hero’s brother in law and sister respectively. Rest of the cast including Aadukalam Murugadoss, Kala Kalyani, Neethu Neelambaran, Swaminathan, Mayilsamy were ok in their roles.

Bharath Reddy in Seenu Gadi Love Story Movie Stills

Verdict :

With a very routine script and boring screenplay ‘Seenu Gaadi Love Story’ will never impress you in any manner right from the beginning of the film. On a whole, you can simply skip this movie this week!!

Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced twill textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces the familiar diagonal ribbing of the denim that distinguishes it from cotton duck(a linen canvas).

It is a characteristic of most indigo denim that only the warp threads are dyed, whereas the weft threads remain plain white. As a result of the warp-faced twill weaving, one side of the textile then shows the blue warp threads and the other side shows the white weft threads. This is why blue jeans are white on the inside. The indigo dyeing process, in which the core of the warp threads remains white, creates denim’s fading characteristics, which are unique compared to every other textile.

Drawbacks in the movie :

1) Director Srinivas has made a poor impression as a director with this film as he just focused to entertain the masses with some silly comedy. Srinivas hasn’t shown any kind of progress with his efforts in this film and has made this film a big mess with some unnecessary scenes and unnecessary characters. The story of the film too is quite routine and has been dealt many a times before in many languages. For these kind of films, the presentation and making of the film should be fresh which is missing in this film. The screenplay too is pretty bad throught the film.1

2) The first half is the biggest minus of this film. Till the interval block, the film is just dragged with Prince’s love track and some boring comedy scenes involving Prince, Jyothi Seth and Madhunandan. The viewers never get to connect with any of the characters in the film nor get any interest as the script moves forward. Things do get decent in the second half, with some comedy form different big comedians but again here we don’t see anything riveting and fresh.

Where is Vidya Balan Telugu Movie Stills

3) Prince though looked smart in the film he could not give out an improved performance in the film. He still needs to fine tune his acting skills, dialogue delivery and the way he emotes his expressions. The love track of his is also not strongly established.3

4) Madhunandan gets to do a full length comedy character in the film but he goes overboard in many scenes during the second half. Jayaprakash Reddy looks odd in his character. Shankar Melkote has a hormone meter that can tell how masculine enough one is which is quiet senseless. Asish Vidhyarthi, Rao Ramesh, Pankaj Kesari, Ravi, Prabhas Seenu, Tagubothu Ramesh and others all did the same routine characters in the film.4

5) The technical aspects of the film are not at all impressive in this film. The music given by Kraman is very poor. None of the songs are good to hear. Even the re-recording appears to a bit routine and follows a template style that one often hears in films of this genre. Cinematography by Chitti Babu has nothing new. Editing by Madhu could have been better by miles. Dialogues never strike a chord with the audience.

Prince, Jyoti Sethi in Where is Vidya Balan Telugu Movie Stills

6) The reason why Rao Ramesh wants the phone is not at all shown in the film. The crime story going in parallel with the love story is not properly handled. The scenes where Pawan Kalyan’s footage of ‘Badri’ is shown is very silly in the first half.

Where is Vidya Balan Telugu Movie Stills

What’s better in the film ??

 1) Jyothi Seth has perfectly justified the role of Swathi and is the only person who comes out with a decent performance in the film. She looks hot in the songs as she has not objected for glamour show and lip lock in the film.

Prince, Jyoti Sethi in Where is Vidya Balan Telugu Movie Stills

2) Sampoornesh Babu brings us some laughs here and there as as Ghanta, the self-styled don. Sampoo’s night blindness scenes and Sapthagiri’s track in the second half tickle the funny bone.8

3) The second half and the climax part will entertain the B & C centers as it has got enough comedy required for them. The twist towards the end is good and is un-expected too.9

Verdict :

On a whole, ‘Where is Vidya Balan’ is a wasted opportunity which is made just to cash upon on the B & C class centers. For class audience this film will surely be a headache with its raw massy comedy.

1) Anand, the protege of AR.Murugadoss has also made a decent impression as a director for bringing a story that is marginally different from the routine stuff we get to see in Telugu cinema. He has balanced both the hero’s characterizations nicely where he shows Rahul Ravindran as the central pillar of the script and Sundeep Kishan’s heroism which takes the film forward. The friendship between these two has also been built up nicely. He has also managed to provide the required commercial elements to the film along with the script.1

2) As said earlier the script by Anand is quiet fresh and new for telugu audience. It deals with the relationship of friendship and love in a quiet novel manner. The theme of honour killings has also been used effectively in the movie with Kasi as its backdrop and has a good message towards the end. The film is also high on emotional content in the film which is backed by some decent action sequences and a fast paced screenplay.2

3) Sundeep Kishan has indeed took indeed a bold move by choosing a story of this sort and has got his act right. He is perfect in his rugged role as the street smart guy with a mass attitude. His body language, ease in fights and confidence in dialogues are pretty impressive, especially in the second half of the film and to say this is one of his career best performances after ‘Prasthanam’.3

4) Rahul Ravindran aptly support Sundeep throught the film. All his scenes with Sundeep Kishan have come out quite well and he has nicely balanced the film with his subtle approach. He carried off the soft lover boy role with ease which is a cake walk for this young actor.4

5) Cinematography by Chota.K.Naidu is top-notch and is the biggest asset of the film as all the visuals look fantastic on screen. Each and every frame of his takes the film to another level. The way he has used different tones and light schemes effectively in this film is quiet beautiful and the way he has canned the Godavari bridge and its surroundings are simply amazing.5

6) SS.Thaman music is another added plus to the film. ‘Samaya’ is the best pick in the album and the remaining two songs too were good to hear. Surprisingly ‘Love story chepana’ song is edited out of the film. His thumping background score, especially with the title tune is superb and takes the film to a decent level.6

7) ‘Run Raja Run’ fame Seerat Kapoor looks gorgeous in the film with her curly hair. This bubbly actress got a meaty role to play and she gives her best performance which is required for her character. The romantic track between Rahul and Seerat have also come out well on screen.7

8) The first half was engaging enough with a good blend of love, friendship and comedy. The pre-interval episode was good though it was quiet predictable. The second half give you that emotional high that it promises and has a decent message towards the end along with a happy ending with Rakul Preet Singh’s surprise treat.8

9) The film has some decent entertainment and the hospital sequence is hilarious. Thagubothu Ramesh, Raghu Karumanchi, Fish Venkat, Satya, Sudigali Sudheer, Josh Ravi entertain us in this sequence.9

10) Editing by Chota.K.Prasad is apt. The crisp run time of 2 hours is a huge bonus as the proceedings are wrapped up in no time.10

11) Kaushik gets a very good character after a long time and has given a decent performance in his short meaningful role. Bollywood actor Bobby Parvez did a brief role as Seerat Kapoor’s father and was fine in the film. Kasi Vishwanath, Praveen, Saptagiri, Snigdha, Naga Babu and Tanikella Bharini and others were ok in their limited roles.11

12) The dialogues by Abburi Ravi are wonderfully written in the film especially towards the second half and in the honor killings episode. Production Values of “NVR Cinema” are appropriate.  12

Verdict :

‘Tiger’ is a decent attempt from the whole team where the whole cast and crew has succeeded in all the departments. It has the right amounts of emotions, songs, friendship, love, fights, comedy, and a decent message too. Overall a much needed commercial success for Sundeep Kishan and Rahul Ravindran!!

What is good in the film ??

1) Naga Shourya has proved that he can even do mass masala roles with this film. He showed great variation right from his body language to his dialogue delivery and right from his histonics to his rugged look in the film. His energy levels in the film are amazing and he looked more at ease in this role of a mass guy. He is particularly good in the climax portions where he showcases the required smartness of his character. Looks like Naga Shourya has worked very hard for transforming into a action hero from a lover boy.1

2) Debutante Sonarika Bhadoria is just too hot to handle in a plump look in the film. She looks super gorgeous in her role and she is an absolute treat in the songs. She also comes out with a decent performance in the film along with her charm. Her chemistry with Shourya is fresh on screen and her lip lock scenes are an added advantage. She surely has a bright future in the next few years to come if she gets some good scripts.  2

3) After a long time, ‘Chintakayala Ravi’ fame director Yogesh does a film and he proves his worth once again this time with a pakka mass entertainer. The way he has handled Shourya’s characterization and the climax sequence is the main highlight for this movie. His stylish taking looks great on screen along with a decent screenplay.3

4) The first half of the film has some decent entertainment and the climax is the main asset of the film. The retrospective style presented by Shourya towards the end is the best part of the film as this is the time when the twits are revealed and the movie proceeds with a good pace along with some racy narration.4

5) Zakir Hussain and Kota Srinvasa Rao are fine as the baddies in the film. Ajay is too good with stylish appearance supporting Shourya ably in the climax. Ravi Kale and Ashish Vidyarthi are apt as cunning crime cops. Satya, Srinivas Reddy and Prudhvi’s track in the first half us bring few laughs. Sapthagiri is hillarious in the second half. Rest of the cast including Tagubothu Ramesh, Prabhas Srinu, Fish Venkat, Raghava, Raghu and others struck to their roles.5

6) Cinematography by Sriram is neat and stylish on screen. All the songs were shot wonderfully and the colour combinations used in the frames are good visually. The camera work in canning the fights and Gola Cheddame’ and ‘Abc Abc’ songs are supreb on screen.6

7) Dialogues by Madhusudhan are nicely written in certain sequences. Hero elevation lines and the flirting dialogues with the heroine deserves a special applause. Production Values of VVSN.Prasad are grand.7

What is bad in the film ??

 1) Music by Sagar Mahathi is not up to the mark. The songs were good to watch on screen but were but not great enough to listen after the film. His background score did not have the punch that is required for a mass action entertainer like this.8

2) The story had no flaws in it with an interesting twist towards the end but the way the director handled the rest of the part other than the climax is very poor. After elevating the hero’s character in the first half, the director failed to continue the tempo in the second half. The scenes that were coming in were not in proper sink with the story of the film which may leave the audience to some confusion of what exactly is going through the script.9

3) The interval bang wasn’t so effective in the film. The second half will bore you a bit as this half doesn’t have much entertainment and the narration falls flat too. Most of the scenes are not linked up and suddenly bumps out of nowhere. Only by the time of climax, the director tied up all the loose ends. The much hyped 2000 crore deal which is the core point in the film and the exact activities the Srisailam’s gang does is not touched upon in the film which is disappointing.10

4) When you talk about the logics in the film, there are quite a few logics missing in this film. They is no proper reason why why the CI (Ravi Kale) is so scared of his senior officer (Ashish Vidyarthi). The heroine comes from a lower middle class family but she dresses like a top class model.  11

5) Few unnecessary characters and scenes were included and the length of the movie becomes a tad too long. The editing by MR.Varma could have been crispier as the run time could have been easily trimmed for about 15 minutes.12

Verdict :

If you can put aside the logics and unnecessary lags in the film, ‘Jadoogadu’ is a passable massy action entertainer with decent performances from the cast and super hot spice factor of Sonarika. A time pass flick on a whole!!

Merits :

1) R.Chandru makes a decent debut as a director into Tollywood with this film which is the remake of Sandalwood 2013 blockbuster movie, ‘Charminar’ which was directed and produced by Chandru himself. He made sure that he had all the commercial elements present in the film with respect to our Telugu audience. The way he has showcased the feelings of responsible youth fighting towards a goal with a wonderful love track in parallel in worth mentioning and he has succeeded in pinching the viewers into tears towards the end.1

2) There are definitely some good moments in the film. The relationship of teachers and students, dedication of youth, the honesty in unconditional love are beautifully showcased on screen without any vulgarity. The pre-climax and climax sequences are the real heart and soul of this film. Right from Sudheer’s speech at the school alumni function till meeting Nanditha at the end, each and every scene is heart-touching. The performances of the lead pair makes the climax even heart-rending.2

3) Sudheer Babu has given his career best performance with this film. He simply makes you fall in love with the role an innocent, sincere and honest lover named Krishna. He will be seen in three different getups in the movie as a inter student, senior engineering student and a matured businessman. He has proven his talent with his performance in each of these getups. He is especially brilliant in the climax portions and does all the emotional scenes so effortlessly.3

4) Nanditha looks perfect in her role and will definitely impress everyone with her charm. She gets into the skin of her character where she plays a reserved village belle role of Radha. Her character has both innocence and loveliness which she portrayed beautifully on screen. Her chemistry with Sudheer is dazzling and she ably supports Sudheer in the climax portions.4

5) Chaitanya Krishna as college baddie is okay. Posani as college Principal gives a matured performance in a crucial role and Pragathi was good as Nanditha’s selfish mother. Vikram Sahadev, the son of Lagadapati Sridhar and Annie were fine in their roles as the lead pairs younger version. Rest of the cast including Giri Babu, Sudha have done justice to their roles.5

6) Music by Kannada composer Hari are good to hear and melodious too. His back ground score was equally appealing and was in sink with the mood of the respective scenes.6

7) Cinematography by K.S.Chandrasekhar is top notch. His camera work in capturing the beauty of waterfalls is worth mentioning and these visuals are quite breathtaking. The scenic beauty of Karnataka are also well shot.7

8) The dialogues written are heartwarming. Especially the speech Sudheer gives has a decent message and the climax portions lines too are well written. The production values of Rama Lakshmi Cine Creations are pretty good.8

De-Merits :

 1) Editing by Ramesh Kolluri should have been a lot sharper in the first half as it is quite slow and the narration can gets boring at times. Some unnecessary scenes and more songs have increased the length and slowed down the pace of the film.9

2) Some of the scenes in this film where Sudheer Babu narrates his love story while returning to his village to attend the school get together meet will remind us of Ravi Teja’s ‘Naa Autograph’. The screenplay too is predictable in nature.10

3) The linking of some sub stories to the main plot was not properly done. Frankly speaking, what were Chaitanya Krishna and the guy who says ‘ee jaaga naadi’ doing in the film? What purpose does these characters serve to the film? On the other hand Saptagiri appears in a bar scene and irritates with his outdated comedy. He is simply wasted in this silly role.10551022_863631967011287_8861824014081338128_n

4) Even though Hari has composed some good hummable numbers, the placement of some songs spoil the flow of the film. It could have been better if the makers have reduced the number of songs or cut short the length of these songs.11

Verdict :

‘Krishnamma Kalipindhi Iddarini’ is a decent film that talks about timeless unconditional love with a high emotional connect that will surely warm your heart. This film may not work for people who look for entertainment but for the rest of them this film is a decent watch.

What is good in the film ??

1) You can’t find anyone better than Puri Jagannadh who can deliver a decent message in a commercial format in the form a feature film and he once again does a decent effort in bring out ‘Jyothi Lakshmi’ in his typical puri-sh tone. The way he has been selecting his story lines in recent times and his choice of telling these stories is highly commendable. Screenplay by Puri is crisp and his dialogues are wonderfully written which definitely deserves some applause.1

2) Charmi looks hot and meaty in the role of a sex worker in the first half while she turns bold and courageous in the second half. Her body language and expressions looked perfect for her role. She does a fine jobwith her dances in the title song too. Overall this will surely be one of her best film in her career when is comes to her overall performance.2

3) Satya Dev scores brownie points in the film and is definitely one of the most promising names to watch out for in the future. He has a nice screen presence and a boy next door look. He aptly supports Charmi’s character and gives out a subtle performance.3

4) Ajay Ghosh does a decent job as the antagonist named Narayan Patwari in the film. He is definetly a new find for dark villians in Tollywood. Hyderabadi film actor Aziz Nasser also does a fair job in his supporting role. Apoorva Srinivasan and the guy & broker besides Satya succed in providing some laughs when ever they come on screen.4

5) PG.Vinda’s cinematography and SR.Shekkhar’s editing are impressive. Some of Vinda’s close up frames of Charmi in the songs look stunning on screen. Shekkhar’s editing too is crisp and accurate for a film like this.5

6) Sunil Kashyap’s music is a big asset for the film. The title song and ‘Vodhodhu’ songs are very catchy. His background score also elevates the film to a decent level especially ‘Chetiki Gaajulu’ song which comes towards the end as a background score is amazing.

What is bad in the film ??

1) When it is said that a director like Puri is coming up with a novel point like this with a message, the audience expect some heart wrenching scenes and some high on emotional scenes which can put the message in a right tone. But unfortunately the film falls flat to bring them on screen. The main concept of the film is set aside in some places where some un-necessary scenes take place especially in the first half.7

2) Another main drawback of the film is that the transformation of a a sex worker to a good wife is not rightly shown in the film. It is very hard to believe that this transformation of Charmi happens in very quick time in fact, it happens overnight. The episode where Charmi decides to close the sex racket in the city is also very poorly dealt as her anguish and other stuff in the scene doesn’t draw the attention of the viewer much.8

3) Satya Dev who is doing well with his performance in the film suddenly is kept aside in the second half as Charmi takes the centre stage. Their love story also lacks clarity and the placement of songs in between the scenes obstruct the flow of the film to a large extent.9

4) There are many scenes without any proper justification like the reason why the hero wants to marry a prostitute has no credible justification and the emotional connect where Charmi decides to take on the sex racketing system is also missing in the film.10

5) Brahmanandam hardly gives a takeaway in his character. Sampoornesh Babu, Saptagiri, Krishnudu, Dhanraj, Uttej, Sathyam Rajesh and others are criminally wasted in very short roles in the climax. So please don’t expect much from them as they are present in the trailers.11

Verdict :

The intension of the film is nice but what could have been a decent flick turned out be an ordinary movie with some improper execution from Puri. Overall, ‘Jyothi Lakshmi’ is not a bad movie but definitely a story that needed better handling!!

0 195

1) Firstly the director Jai Sri Sivan has completely failed in the execution of the film. After watching the film you get a feeling that this director should first undergo a long term course in direction before thinking of directing a film. The story was good and had some twists which can entertain, but the way he has presented them on big screen will never impress any type of audience. On a whole to say there is nothing, i mean nothing in the film to interest the viewers.1

2) The first half of the film is the biggest disappointment in the film. Right from the word go, there seem to be many unnecessary and silly scenes coming our way which we can no way enjoy nor connect with them. The interval bang is one of the worst of recent times. You can also see many people getting out of the theatre after the interval itself. The second half had the scope to evoke some laughter with some twists but none of the scenes fail to atleast draw a bit of attention from the viewers.2

3) Coming to the hero Varun Sandesh, this guy should go to a script selection course and learn how to select a decent script before signing a film. This is the first time he is seen playing a dual role in his career and he could not provide anything special to strengthen the story. He is slowly loosing his value with some meaning less film like this. Hope he learns his mistakes after this flick and get back to form with a decent film under his belt.3

4) Richa Panai and Ruchi Tripathi are not given thorough importance in the film as they were just used for some erotic songs, skin show and lip locks. Except for them looking red hot on the screen, there is nothing to talk about them or their performances in the film.4

5) There were some comedy episodes in the movie but none of them work out as expected. Brahmanandam as ‘Mixi Raja’ and Prabhas Sreenu as ‘Item Raja’ could not tickle the funny bones with their humor. Rest of the cast including Kashi Vishwanath, Babu Mohan, Ranganath, Chanti, Kamal,Suman Settyand others got limited roles to perform.5

6) The film is neither sound in the technical department too. Except for a few songs, the cinematography by Balreddy had nothing new. Music by Ram Narayan was very poor as none of the tunes register in our minds. Editing should have been carried out with some extra care as many scenes looked lengthy. Production values were medicore.

Verdict :

There is nothing much to say about this film. Without any second thought, you can simply avoid this flick. It would be a pure waste of time if you feel like watching it in television too!!

0 1286

1) Sai Kiran Adivi : This director who has earlier made ‘Vinayakudu’ and ‘Villagelo Vinayakudu’ should be credited for coming out with yet another breezy feel good youthful entertainer like this. Even though there is nothing new with the story line, the presentation of the film is what has made this film a fresh and decent one. The way he has crafted the story with a blend of fun, comedy and emotions is noteworthy. Overall he manages to pull off an entertaining film without any boredom.1

2) Dil Raju :This star producer once again stikes gold with his  right subject and script selection. His high production values have made this film look even better on screen. He made sure that his film is a clean, vulgarity free and feel good entertainer which will connect with each and every person especially the youngsters.2

3) The first half of the film is a fun ride with some decent amount of comedy, young age friendship and interesting love tracks between the lead actors. The interval bang is perfect as required for a film like this. Well the second half is a mixture of break up’s and then patch up’s with a good amount of emotions leading to a happy ending. The youngsters will surely connect with the romantic scenes, emotional sequences and the fun element present in the film.3

4) Sumanth Ashwin : This young actor has improved by leaps and bounds with his performance in this film. He looked handsome and stylish with his outfits. He has done a decent job with a character apt for his age and looked subtle in his role.4

5) Sri Divya : She is an apt choice for her role and has given a composed performance in the film. She brings in lot of depth to the film and as she aptly supports Sumanth in their love track which has been handled quiet well on screen.5

6) Parvateesam : This new comer who plays the role of Nookaraju will definitely impress you with his humor and comedy timing in the film along with his Srikakulam accent. He has some of the best moments in the film and does a decent job to entertain everyone.

Hyderabad: Stills from Telugu film `Andhra Pori`. (Photo: IANS)

7) Tejaswini Madivada : She gets a totally different character to what she has played earlier  till date and she gives out a very matured performance in the film as Priya who is an NRI. She also looks glamorous and has done her role with ease.7

8) Sukriti : This girl has a very expressive face and is the best find among the new comers. She looks quite endearing in the film as Bhavana and looks good in each and every frame. She surely has a bright future with time to come.8

9) Viswanath : He looks quiet natural as Siddharth who fears for his mother. He does an impressive job and has a long way to go if some good characters come his way in the future.9

10) Other cast : Pragathi was fine as the dominating mother of Viswanath. Sameer and Priya are decent as the divorced parents. Nithya Naresh was good as Sri Divya’s friend. Rest of the cast including Anitha Chowdary, Jeedigunta Sreedhar etc were fine in their respective roles.10

11) Mickey.J.Meyer : His music is the main highlight of the film. Songs like ‘Mila Mila’, ‘Jagadeka Veera’ are soothing to hear and the title track and ‘Thanks to Zindagi’ are good youth numbers. His background music in the biggest asset of the room. He literally lifts the overall effect of some scenes with his re-recording.11

12) Vijay.K.Chakravarthy : As the major part of the film is shot in the NIRD campus, the camera work by Vijay looks apt for the theme of the story as it is fresh and looks colorful on screen.

Hyderabad: Stills from Telugu film `Andhra Pori`. (Photo: IANS)

13) Abburi Ravi : Dialogues by Ravi require a special mention as they are written wonderfully. Especially the Srikakulam dialogueS will provide lots of laughter in the theaters.13

14) Ramajogayya Sastry : The lyrics by Ramajogayya Sastry are impressive and are written with lot of depth and gel with the mood of the film.14

15) Abburi Hari : Art direction by Hari also looked stunning on screen with the right kind of set provided for the film.15

Minus Points :

1) The story of the film has nothing new in it. It follows almost the same format of ‘Happy Days’. As a result the screenplay becomes quite predictable. After the interval, the viewer get to know whats going to happen next before each scene and the pace of the film also drops down a bit in this half.16

2) Nookaraju’s goal is never nouched towards the end which is the main point in his story. The Pragathi – Vishwanath’s airport scene is quiet unnatural and should have been dealt in a simple manner. Pragathi then realising his son’s pain just within 5 minutes looks very silly.17

Verdict :

On a whole ‘Kerintha’ is a feel good clean youthful entertainer with some good amount of humor, love, friendship, fun, fights, emotions and memories in it. A decent watch worth your ticket !!!

Merits :

1) ‘Andhra Pori’ is the official remake of Ravi Jadhav’s Marathi blockbuster ‘Time Pass’ (2014). The director of this film Raj Mudiraj (‘Rushi’ fame) has managed to set the tone of this youthful love story well without any vulgarity. The way the story is set and showcased amidst a unique couple is also good and some emotional scenes in the second half will surely connect with the audience.1

2) Akash Puri is woderful in his role as the main lead and makes a decent debut with this flick. His body language, diction, dialogue delivery is appreciable and he has got his act right so effortlessly with his very first film itself. He is particularly good in the emotional scenes especially in the climax and he also manages his Telangana accent quite nicely. He surely has the ability to get into the star league after he gets trained in all the departments in the future.2

3) TV serial actress Ulka Gupta (‘Jhansi Ki Rani’ fame) is no doubt an exceptional talent and she proves it with her first feature film in Telugu. Her performance and expressions are the major highlights for this film and especially in the emotional scenes, her performance is simply amazing. She is a perfect fit for the role and she carries off her part with ease as these type of characters might be a cake walk for this star serial actress.3

4) Srikanth Iyenger has done a pretty good job as Ulka Gupta’s angry father and he aslo brings in the some laughs here and there. Veteran actress Eshwari Rao looks realistic as a caring mother of Akash Puri. Uttej chips in with a nice small role as the theatre owner. Rest of the cast including Poornima, Krishna Swamy, Abhinaya and others are ok in their respective roles.4

5) ‘Rushi’ fame Arvind Krishna and ‘Prema Ishq Kadhal’ fame Srimukhi are good in their limited roles as Ulka’s brother and music teacher respectively. Even though they are seen in small roles, they make their presence felt with their performances.5

6) Cinematography by Praveen Vanamali is colourful and he has shown the rural atmosphere of Khammam quiet wonderfully. Telangana dialogues written for Akash are very good and are humorous too.

Hyderabad: Stills from Telugu film `Andhra Pori`. (Photo: IANS)

7) Music by Josyabhatla is good and the background score too looks soothing. Songs like ‘Dethadi’ and the title track are catchy.7

De-merits :

1) The main drawback of the film is the pace with which the film moves forward. The love story is unnecessarily prolonged without any strong reason. The complete story moves at a snail paced manner and mainly the second half is dragged to the core.8

2) The story of the film too is quite routine and these type of youthful love stories have been seen in Tollywood many times before in the past. Even though the love story was dealt in a different manner with that of a Andhra girl and Telangana boy, we get to a feel of missing something once the movie gets finished as some scenes don’t have a perfect ending. Keeping the love story aside, the film also does not have enough drama to keep the audiences interested.9

3) The screenplay of the film is quiet predictable as there is nothing much interesting to watch out for. Unfortunately the director could not recreate the magic of the original flick with this remake. The film had a message towards the end, but it doesn’t have the required effect on the viewers.10

4) There are certain logics missing in the film too, like the heroine’s father believes in values and breaks the love between her daughter and hero, but leaves his son Aravind just like that with Sri Mukhi in the end. There director has left it for the viewers to decide why?11

5) Editing by Srikar Prasad was not upto the mark. He should have used his scissors more in trimming the second half for about 15-20 minutes. The run time of 140 minutes is too high for the routine storyline like this.

Hyderabad: Stills from Telugu film `Andhra Pori`. (Photo: IANS)

6) The graphics showcased in the film are of very poor quality. The animation episode in a song doesn’t have any much effect and the cooling tower sequence too is medicore.13

Verdict :

‘Andhra Pori’ is a clash between some decent debuts from Akash and Ulka Gupta with a dragged narration and routine story. People who like to watch teenage love stories can surely give this film a try. Overall this film remains to be a positive attempt yet a wasted opportunity!!

0 200

1) Firstly director Krishna Vijay should be credited for selecting an off beat film like this which is quiet rare in Tollywood. The way he has written his story as per Nara Rohit’s body language, the way he has narrated the script with an engaging screenplay and the way he has planned his scenes so that the story reaches both to the mass and class audience is worth mentioning. On a whole Krishna Vijay is no doubt a promising talent who has the ability to make it big with different kind of films like this.12) The story of the film is the biggest plus of the film. The whole story revolves around a central jail where a jailer fights to hang a criminal who is desparate to escape his hanging and wants to leave to Dubai at any cost. The suspence elements plays a vital role in the action thriller movies and this flick has enough of it. The interval bang and the second half are a must watch in this film and the climax will surely take you by surprise. The hanging portion is very well designed and these scenes make the film look fresh on screen.2

3) Once again Nara Rohit proves his taste for different cinema and succeeds in bringing out a gripping thriller with his power packed performance in the movie. He looks very settled in his role of Jailer Dharma Teja and he nails it down with his attitude. His baritone is his greatest gift and he is wonderful with his dialogue delievery.3

4) Ravi Varma is the surprise package of this fillm. After ‘Vennela’, he get a very good character and this is his best performance till date. He has got a good screen presence and with a creepy smile on his face, he impresses every one with his talent. He had very less dialogues in the film but he has done his role of a prisoner who desperately plans to get out of the prison with ease.4

5) The dialogues in the film are another biggest asset of the film. Some lines are wonderfully written with lot of depth and the poetry that comes in the film bring in more intensity to the story. Especially all the confrontation scenes with Nara Rohit and Ravi Varma have been designed exceptionally well.5

6) Sai Karthik’s music is the back bone of the film. He has done a wonderful job with his versatile tunes. ‘Peru Theliyani’ is a beautiful melody, ‘Sukumaara’ is a classy item track, ‘Potettine Toorupu’ is a typical title track and ‘Yuddham Cheyara’ is perfect situational song. His background score also stood as the highlight of the film.6

7) Cinematography by Vishweswar is outstanding as all the visuals look classy on screen giving the film a rustic look. The different light schemes used in the jail episodes is impressive. Production Values of Deva media & Entertainment, Kushal Cinema, Aran Media works too were fine.7

8) Priya Benarjee looks beautiful in the film and has done a decent job with her short role. She impresses with her looks and eyes in the close up shots and is good in the song too.8

9) ‘Chakravakam’ Madhu and Sathya are good as the badies in the film. Vennela Rama Rao is pretty decent as the constable and the rest of the cast including Bhanu, Rupa Devi too were fine in their respective roles. Anukriti Sharma and Sri Vishnu are seen in a sexy item number which can make the masses watch the film one more time just for this song and Anukriti’s oozing skin show in it.9

10) Editing by Dharmendra was fine and the short run time of about 2 hours is a big plus to the film. The locations chosen for the jail surroundings and the entire set up of the film looks outstanding.10

Verdict :

With some decent performances from the cast, refreshing script, good twists, nice music and cool visuals ‘Asura’ is a decent watch that deserves our time. To tell, this is definitely a different film from the routine commercial entertainers which has the potential to keep you engaged and travel with the story.

0 243

1) The script of the film is a big disappointment as it fails to the core due to its routine format. Manchu Vishnu has done a very poor job in providing a decent story to this film. In fact this is the worst ever script provided for a parody film as there is no head and tail to the story and scenes written. If the story would have been a bit interesting than this, then the overall result could have a been even better. Looks like Manchu Vishnu has initiated this project just to cash upon the craze of Sampoo that he has achieved through ‘Hrudaya Kaleyam’.1

2) As a debutant director, Akshat Ajay Sharma showed no encouraging sign with this film as he had nothing much to prove with a script like this. The film tries to be a cross between ‘Sudigaadu’ and ‘Hrudaya Kaleyam’ as this film follows the same template of indulgent spoofs and confused presentation. The director even failed to show this film as a total parody/spoof film or a serious mainstream flick as he falls flat with his presentation.2

3) The screenplay is also a big let down in the film. Manchu Vishnu too has handled the screenplay of the film for the first time. He has just taken lots of references from last one decade’s Telugu super hit films and different hero’s heroism in penning this project. However, neither this made any sense nor it had any real fun moments to oblige as much of it was logic less screenplay.3

4) People who like and can laugh to Sampoornesh Babu’s funny style of acting, spoofy dialogues, comedy looks, silly expressions and over the board fights will surely enjoy this film and Sampoo’s performance. But for the rest of them it’s just non-sense. Sampoornesh has got a dream debut through ‘Hrudaya Kaleyam’ but he cannot do films of the same kind just for his so called die hard fans. He needs to improve upon his acting skills and should select decent scripts to sustain as a good actor in the industry.4

5) Bangalore based girl Sanam Shetty is a simply wasted stuff in this film. She was not given due importance as she appears only in limited scenes just to prove her presence. The romantic track between Sampoo and Sanam is also very ridiculous. There are many chances to churn out some decent comedy between the hero and heroine but the director and writer did not take much advantage of this point instead they focused much on the spoofy part.5

6) Bhavani as Lingam was very bad as the villain in the film. He could not do full justice to his role. His dialogues were not in par with his lip sink. Viva Harsha did not suit to his character at all. Rest of the cast including Prudhvi, Annapurna had nothing special do add to the film.6

7) The parody dialogues by Diamond Ratnam will make you laugh at times but none of them gels well with the script. All the spoof lines taken from past hit movies were just not enough to create the required humor.7

8) Cinematography by Satish Muthyala had nothing new. Some shots were clumsy on screen especially the fights sequences. The editing too was below average.8

9) Music and background score by Seshu had no effect on the film. They come and pass just like that. Production values of 24 Frames are pretty ordinary.910) If you go to the logical side of the film, there are many scenes with some illogical elements. The worst of all is, Sampoo diving into a lake in Singarayakonda and his rising up in South Africa.

Verdict :

Only people who can laugh for some silly spoofs can watch this film and people who are well-versed with parodies can simply avoid it. Finally to tell ‘Singham 123’ is a poorly made film with a lazy idea which fails to live up to the even lowest standards of comedy, but was made just to cash upon the craze of Sampoornesh Babu.

Plus :

* No doubt this film is purely Suriya’s one man show as he looks outstanding in this film. He showed good variation between the two characters he portrayed on screen. He has carried this cool conman style, cunning mannerisms and romantic angle with ease as Masss while he will also impress everyone with his classy serious act in Shiva’s role. His style and wonderful performance is what makes this film a bearable one during the dull phases. He was also at his stylish best in this film in both the characters.1

Minus :

* Though Nayantara looked beautiful and elegant in her very limited role as a Nurse, she had very little scope to make an impact with her performance in this film. The director was not able to utilize this star heroine’s acting skills completely and her character was not etched out properly as it needed a lot of establishment and clarity in the story. Pranita Subhash also could not make her presence felt in the flash back episode as she had very little screen presence. It looked like she would neither be getting a benefit or a drawback by choosing this particular role.2

Plus :

* Yes, Venkat Prabhu is definetly a street smart intelligent director who has the abitily to come out with different genre movies. The twist where Masss realises that the ghost who looks exactly like him, is his father shows Venkat Prabhu mark. He has come up with a fresh concept where the hero happens to see dead people, makes money with the help of these ghosts and how he helps them out is indeed a thrilling element. This point is the only thing that makes us feel this film a bit different from the Muni series.

Minus :

* However, if we keep that point aside, the film is just another revenge drama where a good person gets killed and becomes a ghost and then takes revenge with the help of a live person. We have recently seen the same concept in ‘Vaaradhi’ and ‘Muni-3’ where both weave a love story and a revenge story around a similar element. This has made this film to be an average affair.4

Plus :

* The way Venkat Prabhu has shown Suriya in a stylish manner is the a big plus to the film. The way he has handled the first 15 minutes, interval bang and the flash back episode requires a special mention.5

Minus :

* Screenplay of the film is pretty average as the director has not given thorough importance to the plot which is interesting only in bits and parts. He has set up an interesting story with good twists but he totally faltered in the execution in the second half and poor writing in the first half.6

Plus :

* Premji of ‘Gambler’ fame gets to play a full-fledged character and delivers some laughs here and there with his one liners and funny antics. Parthiban was decent in the role of a police officer where he showcases both serious and comedy angles nicely.7

Minus :

* The comedy scenes fail big time in the film. There is very little room for entertainment as the director focused more on the horror thrill element. Brahmanandam is purely wasted in a very small role which doesn’t have any affect on the film.8

Plus :

* The first fifteen minutes where all the character are introduced and the first two songs were handled nicely. The interval bang is wonderful and with the entrance of Shiva’s character the film gains more interest and curiosity.9

Minus :

* After the initial introduction of all the characters in the first half, director Venkat Prabhu messed up the story and opted for some below par comic scenes. After the flash back is revealed in the second half, the film then turns out to be a regular routine revenge drama. As a result, the overall plan of choosing a new concept goes haywire.10

Plus :

* Samuthirakani, Sharath and Riyaaz were good as the badies in the film. Karunas, Sriman, Daniel, Rajendran, Jasper, Sanjay Bharathi, Manobala, Vidyullekha Raman, Vijay, Aravind, Subbu and others were also fine with their respective roles. Jai was ok in his cameo.11

Minus :

* None of these above actors are familiar down here in Telugu film which is another drawback for this film.12

Plus :

* Cinematography by Rajshekar is excellent. His framing was good and there were some wonderful shots with some grand visuals. His picturization elevated few scenes in the first half and interval time. Especially the introduction shots of Surya, Nayantara and Pranitha were nice on screen.13

Minus :

* K.L. Praveen’s editing was poor as many forced scenes could gave been trimmed to a great extent and the run time should have been a bit crisper. Almost about 15 minutes of the film could have been cut down which could have given a better result to the overall result of the movie.14

Plus :

* After Surya’s performance, Yuvan Shankar Raja’s background score is the main highlight of this film. Every frame looked stylish with his re-recording and a couple of songs were fabulous on screen and good to hear  too.15

Minus :

* The placement of these songs appear as speed bakers to the film. The telugu lyrics too could have a little better to give a better effect to the songs.16

Plus :

* Selvas action episodes are superb and the production value are on grand scale that has give a rich look to the film.17

Minus :

* Shashank Venallakanti’s dilouges were just about average and the graphics showcased in the film are really bad which look very poor on screen.18

Verdict :

People who love watching Suriya at his best can surely give this film a shot where as people who expect something new from this inquisitive combination will be disappointed a bit with the dragged narration and routine revenge drama in the second half. On a whole, Suriya’s ‘Rakshasudu’ is entertaining only in bits and pieces!!

What’s bad in the film ?

1) Firstly there is nothing special in the story given by Veligonda Srinivas. A rich NRI boy comes to India to reunite his broken family by creating mistaken identities, Brahmanandam’s entry in the second half, two heroines to shake leg in the songs who finally get kidnapped by villains and finally an emotional speech in the climax after saving the heroines is seen in many number of films which looks boring for people who seek something new.i

2) ‘Pandaga Chesko’ instantly reminds you of many hit family entertainers from the past where the same above formula is followed like ‘Ready’, ‘Sukumarudu’, ‘Greeku Veerudu’, ‘Attarintiki Daredi’, ‘Govindhudu Andarivadele’ etc. Except the treatment of the scenes, there is nothing new in the film.ii

3) As this film once again follows the same hit formula, the screenplay of the film become very predictable and makes a poor impression finally. It just looks like all the scenes are incorporated just for the sake of drama.iii

4) The background score by Thaman is very poor and its surprising to see Thaman giving an average background score like this in recent times.iv

What’s good in the film ?

1) Even though the story of the film has nothing new, director Gopichand Malineni has made sure to make it a pakka commercial pot boiler with some entertaining comedy scenes at regular intervals. He knew his limitations and has played a safe game without moving away from the commercial formula. On a whole, he makes a fair impression as a director as he has shown this routine story with a lot of richness on screen.1

2) Kona Venkat is no doubt a master in designing commercial laugh riots and he once again proves it with this film. Anil Ravipudi (‘Pataas’ fame) also helps his ably this time. With some strong writers like this, it will be an easy job for the director and that’s what Gopichand has done. These both turn this routine story into a decent commercial entertainer with some interesting scenes tucked in here and there. Especially Kona should be credited to dish out numerous films with the same story pf this kind.2

3) Ram looks uber-cool in this film with his stylish outfits. He looks quite handsome as an NRI and pulls off this tailor made role with ease. His energy is the biggest asset of this film and he also strikes the right chemistry with the glam dolls, Sonal and Rakul. His dances and fights will be a treat for all the mass audience. Overall he does a deent job with this film.3

4) No doubt this film is full on glamour and both Rakul Preet and Sonal Chauhan added the required spice for the masses in the film. Rakul plays the sweet bubbly girl’s role to perfection like all the heroines do in these type of conventional commercial films. She also looks gorgeous in her traditional outfits. Sonal Chauhan is also pretty good as an arrogant business woman and adds the glam quotient with her bikini in ‘Dorikaade Dorikaade’ song.4

5) Undoubtedly Brahmanandam is the other hero for these type of films and he as usual steels the show once again with his mark style of entertainment. He is hilarious as Weekend Venkat Rao and his is the major selling point in the second half of the film with his superb comedy timing.

Brahmanandam @ Pandaga Chesko Movie Audio Launch Stills

6) Sampath and Sai Kumar balance their negative cum positive negative roles with their matured performances. Bramaji, Aditya Menon and Raghu Babu are okay in their respective roles while Priya, Rajitha and Meena were good supporting the cast. Rao Ramesh and Pavithra Lokesh were fine as Ram’s parents.6

7) Tejaswi Madiwada was decent as Rakul’s friend. Late M.S.Narayana and Surekha Vani’s track also provided a few laughs. Vennela Kishore,Jaya Prakash Reddy and Abhimanyu Singh also tickles the funny bone in the fist half of the film while Prudhvi and Shakalakka Shankar are hilarious in their parody of SVSC as Vijayawada brothers. Rest of the cast were also fine.7

8) Cinematography by Sameer Reddy has given a rich look to the film. The beautiful locations of Portugal were amazingly captured and presented onscreen. The songs too were picturized well through his lens. Editing by Gautham Raj too was fine and adequate.8

9) Music composed by S.S.Thaman is fresh and was apt to the energy of Ram. All the songs are peppy and good to hear. The production values of United Movies banner are rich.9

10) Dialogues by Kona Venkat are nicely written. Some lines like the following work well in the film –
* Ennalu paaganu gellipincharu ee oka saari premanu gellipinchandi.
* Neeku BP vasthe panni vadu vanukuthadu naaku BP vasthe prathi vaadu vanukuthaadu.
* Life lo goal unnavadu reach ayyaka cool avuthadu ye goal leni vaadu ekkadi kaina doosukellipothadu.
* Kontha mandiki mirror la kontha mandiki error la kanapadthanu.10

Verdict :

People who seek pop corn entertainment will surely enjoy this film while people who seek something new might get disappointed. Overall ‘Pandaga Chesko’ is a one time watch routine family entertainer with all commercial ingredients in the required amounts.

What’s good in the film ?

1) Firstly the concept selected by Ram Gopal Varma is fresh from the kind of films he selects regularly. From the time when RGV has announced this film to be a love story of most modern couples, this has become the major selling point of the film and the viewers are keenly interested to know how he handles this film as he is always associated with mafia based flicks and horror flicks. He tried to show some strong reasons and situations to show how a couple fall in love and then get divorced within 365 days.1

2) Actor Nandu has done a decent job with his performance as a young lover boy and as a troubled husband. He looks promising in both the shades and has portrayed varied emotions nicely on screen especially the frustration as a husband which he had to show most of the time in the film.2

3) Anaika Soti has improved a lot with her acting and looks cute in the film. This saucy actress oozes glamour on screen and provides the required eye candy for the film.3

4) The major highlights of the film is Posani Krishna Murali who plays the role of Nandu’s boss in the film. He entertains the audience in his small cameo as a man against marriage and succeeds in tickling the funny bone with his mark comedy.4

5) Unlike RGV’s film, this film has many songs and the music is handled in a pretty decent manner by Nag Srivasthav. Seshu.KMR’s background score is also good. ‘Andaniki Nirvachanam’ is the pick among the album.5

6) Anith Madadi’s cinematography is okay. He adds the required colour to the film through his camera work. Some dialogues are also well written. The introduction of the film by RGV through a sand work requires a special mention. Production Values of ZED 3 pictures are good.

Dongata Telugu Movie Stills

7) Rest of the characters including Satya Krishna, Geethanjali, Krishnudu, Raavi Kondala Rao, Surekha Vani and others are okay in their small roles.7

What’s bad in the film ?

1) Ram Gopal Varma once again fails as a director as he could not carry the film in the right way. With a story line like this, he could easily impress audience with some feel good narration but he falters as many sequences look repeated and routine. He should come to know the fact that he is wiping away his own great legacy of being one of India’s finest director’s one movie at a time with simple routine story lines.8

2) Even though the concept by RGV was good, the story of the film has nothing new to offer and is quiet routine with its wafer-thin plot. The pain and grief which is caused by the misunderstandings that the modern day couples come across have not been showcased properly by RGV. He has lacked clarity with his execution and the so called emotional connect is clearly missing in the film as the majority of scenes between the lead pair get rather monotonous.9

3) The way RGV narrates the film is another big disappointment in the film. He follows a lackadaisical narration which has let the audience know what scene is coming next as Varma narrates the situation just before it starts. This has made this film to be another half- baked attempt from RGV.10

4) The second half of the film is dragged to the core with a shoddy script and has no weight in the proceedings. Varma only tries to showcase the problems between the married couples in this half of the film and some people feel bored to see these scenes on screen as they are facing the same problems daily in their real lives.11

5) The screenplay in the film is another major drawback. The hero meeting the heroine, falling in love with her, then they getting married and eventually getting separated due to some hard situations in a span of 365 days is everything this film is about.12

6) Although the music is good the hear, the placement of songs hinder the flow of the film. And one would definitely feel that the songs could have been picturized differently to have a better effect on the film.13

7) Editing by Anwar Ali is below par as many scenes in the second half could have been easily edited by about 10-15 minutes.14

Verdict :

‘365 Days’ never looks like a feature film as it rather looks like a TV serial on big screen. Ram Gopal Varma is just being over passionate on making films which had made him lose focus on providing a decent storyline, narration and screenplay to his films. Overall ‘365 Days’ looks like RGV’s thesis project on love and marriage!!

1) Gautam Vasudev Menon’s screenplay is the major plus to this film. He is undoubtedly a class apart when it comes to romance with action and i think no other filmmaker down south can handle romance and action that perfectly that this guy does in his flicks. With this film too, he takes you on a ride with some lovely moments of romance and then bounces back to gritty action. The way he showcases the action sequences in the second half is the main highlight of the film.12) The backdrop selected by Gautham is quiet fresh and the plot looks engaging. The way he writes his characterizations and sets up a drama among them is Gautham’s main strength. In this film too, he has a daring cop Satyadev who gets back to business when it matters, a son’s love towards his lovable father, the mature yet cute romance between Ajith and Trisha, a careful father who refuses to let go of his promise, a dreaded gangster who seeks revenge and money and a rich person who is desperate to live by having a heart transplantation at any cost.2

3) The first half moves briskly introducing all the characters but the second half is the real heart and soul of this film. The second half of the film is a cracker of its kind as it races ahead with some steamy dialogues, superb action blocks and a decent mind game. The phone conversations between Ajith and Arun Vijay in their cat and mouse game towards the pre-climax is superb which makes it a riveting watch and this part will surely be a feast for Ajith fans.3

4) Ajith’s screen presence is unbelievably amazing that he can drive the audience crazy with just a smile on his face. Special credits to him for opening up to a story like this who follows a huge fans base down south. It is refreshing to see the actor in Ajith overshadowing the star in him and daring to do a bold attempt like this. He is just full of energy and looks terrific in the classic emotional portions and racy action sequences. He showed lot of variations in his body language and expressions during the course of the film with perfection.4

5) Trisha looks a million bucks and makes a strong impression with her performance in the film. She looks beautiful in the film and elegantly emotes all her emotions wonderfully in the brief role she had. She make sure that her presence is felt throughout the movie and excels in her character as a lovable mom. Her characterization was nicely written and she just carried off the role like she was born for it. She even does some good bharatnatyam dance in the film.5

6) Arun Vijay is the surprise package in this film as he looks stunning as the baddie in the film. He literally uses every opportunity he gets to steal the limelight off a star with unimaginable screen presence like Ajith. He has undoubtedly taken the film to the next level with his performance especially in the last half n hour involving where he shows his power in the word battle with Ajith on phone. His dubbing by actor Ajay suited him well and he looked stunning with his stunts too.

Dongata Telugu Movie Stills

7) Music scored by Harris Jayaraj is good. Kudos to Gautham for making songs a part of the narrative and preventing them from becoming obstrucive. Harris’s tunes emotionally cement the film and his back ground takes the film to another level. ‘Neekem Kaavaalo Cheppu’ and ‘Manasuna Edho Raagam’ are decent melodies in typical Harris style. His idea of using rock fusion for the action sequences is refreshing.7

8) Vivek provides some humour here and there with his one liners. Parvathy Nair as Arun’s wife in the film gets a noticeable role and she does a decent job. Baby Anika looks cute as Trisha’s daughter and does fairly well in her role. Daniel Balaji, Suman, Nassar and the remaining cast were fine in their respective roles.8

9) The visuals by Australian cinematographer Dan Macauther is top notch. His visuals are scintillating that he captures both the tense and emotional portions with vivid color tones. The actions sequences are something that Gautham never leaves room for error, and these action scenes are well designed, well shot and well edited.9

10) The editing looks fine and A.M.Ratnam’s production values is an added advantage to this film giving it the much required rich look to the film.10

Drawbacks in the film :

1) After directing two cop films, ‘Gharashana’ with Venkatesh and ‘Raghavan’ with Kamal Hassan in the past director Gautham Menon teams up with Ajith for yet another cop story with this flick. There are so many similarities of these two previous films of his with this film. The kidnapping and waiting game, revenge of the villian over the hero and hero wining it finally is already seen in ‘Gharashana’ and ‘Raghavan’ which makes the film quiet predictable. Except for the awesome screenplay of Gautham and Ajith’s screen presence, rest all look similar in his cop trilogy.i

2) The first half looks a bit boring and moves on a plane note without any entertainment. The film goes introducing many new characters and situations, keeping you a bit confused with the script in this half of the film. Except for the breezy romance between Trisha and Ajith and the agonizing past of Ajith which turns out be a heartbreaking tragedy, there is nothing much to talk about this part.ii

3) It’s very shocking to see a hugely reputed star like Anushka accepting a very short lived role which has very little to offer to the script. She was seen in a not-so-well etched out role which had less importance when it comes to the script. It could have been fine, if any other junior artist or small heroine could have been taken for this role instead of going for a big star like her. Looks like it was for promoting the film down here as she has a huge fan base in Telugu.iii

4) A main point in the story which tells about the organ theft or organ trafficking is given less importance in the film. The director has highlighted the police and mafia involved with this but failed to give much preference to this concept. It could have been interesting if some scenes were canned to show how doctors, rich people, underworld mafia etc are taking advantage of this process to meet their needs and to make money illegally.iv

5) The film also lacks to show the main reason behind Arun Vijay’s revenge against Ajith and why Ajith made friends with Arun when he is a criminal and wants to kill him.v

Verdict :

Fristly Gautham should be credited for making a movie not for Ajith fans, but one which Ajith’s fans will enjoy. With the majestic screen presence of Ajith, decent screenplay of Gautham Vasudev Menon, a superb second half and lovely performances from the cast ‘Yentha Vaadu Gaanie’ is a fair one time watch for the Telugu viewers this summer!!

1) Director Bose Nelluri shows decent potential as a director with this film. He adds as much comedy as possible to make this crime comedy a time pass watchable flick. Even though he falters with his narration during the first half, he covers it up with the comedy angle in the second. Looks like he has a strong grip over the technical aspects of film making and you can see them while watching the richness of the film on screen.

Director Vamsi Krishna @ Dongata Movie Logo Launch Stills

2) Sudheer Babu is at his stylish best and has gone for a complete makeover with this film. This is definitely the best performance of his till date as you will see a new Sudheer who gives a settled performance in this film as a witty con man. He has improved a lot with his dialogue delivery and has given a controlled dialogue delivery in this film. His screen presence is relaxed and he pulls off his part convincingly by carrying the entire film on his shoulders.2

3) Manchu Manoj is the surprise addition in the film with his little cameo towards the end. He looks good in massy beard look and cameo was short and sweet.3

4) Chandra Mohan is apt as the school teacher and plays his role with complete ease. Pankaj Kesari of ‘Bham Bolenath’ fame looks fantastic as a sincere investigative officer and Abhimanyu Singh of ‘Raktha Charitra’ fame is quite good as the comic villain in the film. 4
5) The major highlight of the film is the comedy track between Jaya Prakash Reddy, Duvvasi Mohan and Fish Venkat. Both Jayaprakash and Duvvasi Mohan get a full length role in this film and they succeed in evoking the required laughter because of their comic timing and the chemistry they strike. Fish Venkat also hepls them in the marriage sequence with his spoof on Mahesh Babu.5

6) Shakalaka Shankar is seen in a single seen in the first half and he looks hilarious with his lines. While Sapthagiri comes towards the climax and does a decent role in providing smiles in the climax. Praveen as Sudheer Babu’s friend is also fine in his role.

Dongata Telugu Movie Stills

7) The cinematography by Ummadisingu Sai Prakash is pretty good and presents the film in a decent light. The locations in the songs are shoot well and the visuals of the movie have been grand enough on screen.7

8) The second half of the film is the major asset of the film. Especially the climax of the film is well designed and with the entry of Saptagiri in the climax, the film ends the film on a happy note. The actual story kick starts in this half of the film and a few interesting twists in the part have been executed well.8

9) Music by Kannada musician Manikanth Kadri was good. ‘Ohoo Sundari’ one of the best songs in recent times and ‘Naavaadai’ is a decent melody. Special credits to the sound track he has provided for the introduction scenes for Sudheer Babu and Abhimanyu Singh.9

10) The fights in the film are well shot and designed. The dance choreography in the songs also require a special mention as they look quiet neat and stylish. Production values by Lakshmi Narasimha banner are adequate.10

What is Bad ?

1) One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the first half of the film as there is nothing much going forward with the script in this half. The film kick starts with interesting history of Lord Rama idol but has nothing more interesting. The first half runs only with the romantic track of the lead pair, some con scenes by Sudheer and a couple of songs. Editing could have been crisper in this part of the film, cutting down the unnecessary scenes.i

2) The story written by the director Bose is quiet routine which has been tried and tested many times in the past. Even though there are enough twists in the film, the resemblance of these to many other movies makes the story more predictable and can be guessed most of the times.ii

3) Heroine Nandini of ‘Maaya’ fame is a total misfit to the role. She never looked like a heroine material and she could not emote the required expressions properly in the film. She also could not provide the required glamour quotient to the film as she has almost zero glamour factor.iii

4) This film which has been promoted as the sequel of ‘Swamy Ra Ra’, doesn’t have the same depth in the script which the original had. In fact it follows the same path and story line about an idol but the level of interesting elements are much lower than ‘Swamy Ra Ra’. It also lacks from the racy narration and the interesting con scenes which were the main highlight of ‘Swamy Ra Ra’. Just when things start to get interesting, the film loses its way with unnecessary scenes.iv

5) The screenplay of this film is another disappointment in the film. The director should have worked a bit on the screenplay rather than getting inspired from one successful film, as he leaves away too many loop holes with the script and make a similar one of the original.v

6) There are some logic’s missing in the film like –
* The local con men in the first scene of the film, believe in Sudheer’s words that he is an original police officer and when they run for their lives after he frees them, they realize that even he was a con man within a second which is foolish.
* The investigative officer has sufficient video proof to arrest Krish but he never cares about the footage and tries to capture Rudhra before completing his deal about idols.
* Sudheer Babu finds the cost of the artifact from an ancient book with has an image of Rama-Seeta which looks a bit silly and

Verdict :

If you can keep the logic’s aside and sit through the first half of the film patiently, ‘Mosagallaku Mosagadu’ will surely provide you some comic relief with the second half of the film. On a whole Sudheer Babu does a decent attempt and improves a lot with this flick!!

1) Firstly the director Satya Deva failed to handle the film in the right manner which might be due to the lack of experience. The script had the potential to be a decent entertainer but his casting and some glaring errors in the execution were the main drawbacks of the film. The story line was that of a thriller but the director has turned this into an average commercial film with some silly comedy scenes. On a whole, Satya Deva makes a very average impression as a director because his dedication on the paperwork could not be seen when it comes onscreen.

Director Vamsi Krishna @ Dongata Movie Logo Launch Stills

2) Apart from the high voltage action sequences and lengthy punch dialogues, this film is a totally different story from the previous ones of Balayya’s flicks. The director has ruined the essence of his story element with his poor story treatment. He has not provided the required doses of drama, emotions and entertainment that one expects from a Balakrishna film, especially his fans.2

3) The screenplay of the film is very poor as it lacks focus. It fails to establish why the hero battles between two personalities in the film. This type of screenplay will be slightly irritating for the B and C center crowds while the lethargic presentation and seeing Balayya in these type of scripts will never be accepted by the A center people.3

4) There is no doubt that Balakrishna is definitely ageing as time passes by and he should come to know the fact that people are not expecting him to do films where he romances a girl almost equal to his daughter’s age and dance with his aged body as its looks very odd on screen. Little more care should have been taken for the make-up of Balayya as he is shown in close-up shots through out the film and he looked very aged in these shots especially in his beard role.4

5) The first half is dead slow till the pre interval scene and it would have been good if few unwanted comedy scenes were edited out. The second half of the flick has some decent moments but becomes highly predictable. Once the twist is revealed post interval, the film gets predictable and becomes a routine revenge drama.5

6) All the romantic scenes between Balakrishna and Trisha have not been handled well as they look very forced on screen. The most funniest scene is where Trisha’s gang of armed women in the film decide to bash Balakrishna but he immediately takes out a perfume bottle and sprays it over him like a model from the axe ad. Then finally those women enthusiastically smother him with love which look quiet silly for Balayya’s age and could have been totally avoided.

Dongata Telugu Movie Stills

7) Radhika Apte has virtually nothing to do in the film, except to shake her leg and show her assets for the two songs she had. She is absolutely wasted in the film with a insignificant role. It’s just stupid to see JayaSudha, Chandra Mohan, Chalapathi Rao and Sangeetha playing the roles of Balayya’s parents.7

8) Late M.S.Narayana, Ali and Posani Krishna Murali fail to make the viewers laugh with some poor characterizations. All of a sudden Indraja comes towards the climax and overacts, just to elevate heroism on screen. There is no doubt in saying that every actor other than Balakrishna is half-used in the film.NBK-Lion-Audio-Posters-3

9) There are many logic less scenes in the film that lack proper justification. For example,
– Balayya wakes up from coma after 18 months ans simply goes out from the hospital just like that. And he walks straight to the ATM from the hospital. Don’t know weather the hospital security is week and also how Balayya got his ATM card from.
– When Indraja can edit the status of an officer on duty, why Prakash Raj didn’t do the same being the Chief Minister of the state.9

10) Editing is another minus to this film. Editor Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao’s should have trimmed the unnecessary scenes between the lead pair and also the scenes where a fleet of cars following and outdoing each other to kidnap Prakash Raj.10

11) Songs by Mani Sharma was were not up to the mark. Even though a couple of songs in the second half that might remain with Balayya’s fans for a while, there is nothing much to talk about them. The placement of these songs also appear as speed breakers to the flow of the film.11

What’s Good in the Film ??

1) A superb interval block and some high voltage scenes in the second half are the biggest plus points to this film. The fights composed by Ram-Lakshman masters are simply outstanding, especially the chase scenes and the fight in the tribal area.i

2) Cinematographer Venkat Prasad moves the camera well to picturize the film richly on screen. The camera work in the chase scene was superb.ii

3) Mani Sharma once again proves that he is the king when it comes to background score. His enormous re-recording stood as a big highlight to the film.iii

4) Dialogues by Satya Deva were nicely written and had the power punch that every Balayya film has.lion_movie_stills_3112140143_007

Verdict :

‘Lion’ is a very different attempt from Balakrishna which fails to roar at the box-office due to some poor treatment of the script and improper casting from the director. On a whole ‘Lion’ is just a one-time watch for Balayya fans!!

‘Dagudumootha Dandakor’ is the official remake of the Tamil film ‘Saivam’ written, directed and produced by A. L.Vijay and which had Nassar in the lead role and child actress Sara Arjun played another pivotal role.

1) Firstly full credits to the director R.K. Malineni and the makers of the film for attempting a beautiful Telugu family film of this kind. The way the director has handled the script in a very subtle and mature manner is appreciable and he makes a good impression as a director. He has showcased every aspect of the village atmosphere and the mindset of the people living away from the villages with lot of care. On a whole he has managed to do a decent job with his narration and sets the remake in a nice tone with good heart.

2) The story of this film is quiet refreshing which revolves around a sensitive topic of family emotions and beautiful moments with lots of traditional values. It bring back the the age old joint family culture once again to Telugu films. The genuine affection of a grandfather to his grand daughter is written nicely and is brought out well on screen. Over all it is a simple clean film without any fights, bloodshed, vulgarity etc and which will definitely connect to all family audiences.2

3) Rajendra Prasad is excellent in the role of Raju garu as the family head in the village. He looked decent, matured and has brought a lot of weight to the role. He has very limited dialogues in this film but his expressions hold the attention of audiences. He was exceptional in the emotional scenes especially and made sure that he was the apt one for that respective role.3

4) Baby Sarah Arjun is the surprise attraction of this film as she looks very lovable as the little girl. Her scenes with Rajendra Prasad are endearing and are well made. She has given a mind blowing performance and one will surely fall in love with that cute girl after seeing her act with ease in this film at a very small age.4

5) Nithya Shetty and Siddharth Varma are seen in a teenage love track in this film and both of them have done a decent job in their respective roles. Sandhya Janak was good as Rajendra Prasad’s wife in the film. Ravi Prakash, Prabhu, Sree Harsha are seen in a lengthy role for first time and they do full justice to it. Child actor Vijay was perfect in the role of Sannasi Raju alias Sunny. Satyam Rajesh was ok and the rest of the crowd of the family succed to make their presence felt in the movie.

6) Screenplay of the film is refreshing and flows without any complications on a simple note. All the scenes in the film has its own uniqueness and looks interesting to watch on big screen. The fun generated around the family is good and the scenes never makes you feel tedious at any point of the film.5

7) The Cinematography by V.S.Jnanasekhar is excellent and makes the viewers eye comfortable with the colourful framing. The village atmosphere, greenary present there and its simple beauty has been captured quite beautifully through his lens. Especially the songs are a treat for family audience as they look lovely on screen.7

8) The music by E.S Murthy is soothing to hear and with the wonderful lyrics, the songs get even better carrying forward the story of the film. The background music of the film is impressive too.

Siddharth Narayan in Enakkul Oruvan Tamil Movie Stills

9) Special mention to the Art department for coming up with some promising work and designing the sets quiet naturally suiting to the village backdrop. Especially the house, market, government school showcased in the film are very real on screen.

10) The dialogues are nicely written and few dialogues about farming and farmer are heart touching. The production values of First Frame Entertainment & Usha Kiran Movies are fine.10

Minus Points :
1) The make-up of Rajendra Prasad is bit odd and should have taken more care. It looks a bit that the old style makeup was over done for his role.

Rajendra Prasad @ Dagudumootha Dandakor Movie Audio Launch Stills

2) Yet another major drawback of the film is the lack of emotional depth. There is no strong reason shown about why the Sara loves Nani (cock) very much. The director couldn’t make the best use of sentimental sequences which had great scope.ii

3) The most important scene of the film where the hen going missing and the family searching for it was nice in the beginning but the same scene is repeated for a two-three times in the second half. The ‘bo bo bo bo’ scenes should have been edited out without much prolonging. The editing looks a bit poor in the film.iii

4) The scene where the family members take a pledge of becoming vegetarians was greatly shown in the original. But the makers and director conveniently ignores this wonderful sequence in this remake.iv

5) The scene where the whole family changes was not properly justified in the film which looks a bit unnatural. The director should have established this emotional transformation in a better way.v

6) The climax sequence wasn’t executed as per expectations as it looks a bit dragged and couldn’t give out a justified and emotional ending to the

Verdict :

With some wonderful performances from Rajendra Prasad, Baby Sara Arjun and the other cast along with some beautiful visuals, this film becomes a worth watch for all Telugu audience. On a whole ‘Dagudumootha Dandakor ‘ is like a breeze of fresh air in this commercially driven industry. Must watch for family audience!!

‘Naalo Okkadu’ is the dubbed version of Siddarth’s Tamil hit film ‘Enakkul Oruvan’. This is a psychological thriller which is the official remake a crowd funded Kannada film by Pawan Kumar titles ‘Lucia’, a mindtrip of a movie.

1) The director should be appreciated for trying an off beat experimental film of this kind in Tamil and now dubbing it into Telugu. It is one such film which comes close to perfection in every aspect of film making. These type of non-linear films are difficult to be conveyed convincingly but debutant director Prasad Ramar has done a fabulous job in bring it out the intersection between the two states of consciousness with a mix of dreams and reality that has made the experience amusing. The plot and the narrative of this psychological thriller are absolutely fresh and the way the director brings out varied emotions from his characters is pretty good.

Director Vamsi Krishna @ Dongata Movie Logo Launch Stills

2) Siddharth as an actor has come a long way and has dished out an unbelievable performance in this film. He has proved his versatility and provided the required intensity to both his roles. The dichotomy as a deprived loser and a superstar is neatly and aptly enacted by Siddharth. Especially he has given an effortless performance in the role of a superstar. He has surely turned more matured as an actor with this film and once again proved that he is one of those rare stars in the industry who has the capability to enact any kind of roles in a perfect manner.2

3) Newcomer Deepa Sannidhi is convincing enough and weighs her character rather pretty well in both the stories. Her acting is matured enough and she has kept a solid effort for this film. She looks cute as well, and has a bright career awaiting in the future.3

4) Screenplay plays a major role in this movie. A complicated screenplay is neatly pulled off and it succeeds in confusing the general audience in parts especially in the climax. But this type of screenplay will not easily click with all type of audiences as its a bit confusing.4

5) Aadukalam Naren comes up with yet another strong restrained performance, with ease and conviction supporting Siddu aptly in both the stories. He has managed to pull off his supporting role with great clarity. The other actors of the movie including John Vijay, Jog Japee, Ramadoss, Mahadevan, Uday Mahesh, Ajay Rathnam, Vettri and others have performed their parts well.5

6) Gopi’s cinematography is another major plus to the film. The transition between dream and reality is showcased in black & white and colour respectively which is a good attempt. At some places the camera itself becomes a character and contributes immensely to the visualization as well as to the narration of the movie. The shot where superstar Siddu is introduced is a best example.

Dongata Telugu Movie Stills

7) The music by Santhosh Narayanan and his background score is fresh and suits well to almost all the scenes effortlessly. But the dubbed songs might be a problem for the film. The song sung by Siddharth is the only song which is better in the Telugu album.7

8) Special mention goes to Leo John Paul whose editing makes this film a better one. When a film maker adopts a non-linear strategy to convey his intent, editing is the most important thing to be taken care off and Leo John Paul does his best and is definitely one of the biggest assets of the film.

Siddharth Narayan in Enakkul Oruvan Tamil Movie Stills

9) Kudos to script writer Pawan Kumar (who was also the director of the original version ‘Lucia’ in Kannada) for coming up with a script of this kind. The way he has given the detailing in the script and has made sure that nothing is left out of place in the narration to bring the movie to an astounding climax is appreciable. His main point to show a man’s dissatisfaction with his own life and the deep desire to experience someone else’s life is depicted beautifully on screen.

Hyderabad: Telugu movie Dongata song shooting in Hyderabad. (Photo: IANS)

10) The climax is the only relief in the film apart from the performances of the cast. It gives a a whole new meaning – “Your small life could be someone else’s big dream” and justifies the script.10

What lets the film down in Telugu :

1) The biggest minus of this film is the slow paced narration. The film moves on a serious note till the pre climax of the film for which the Telugu audience will get bored easily. So, this film is definitely only for a particular section of audience who like different kinds of film but not for the regular viewers.i
2) There is absolutely no comedy in this film. So people looking for some popcorn entertainment will surely be disappointed with this flick.ii

3) There are some unnecessary scenes which are no way connected with the script. For instance, the travel episode with foreigners and the song associated with it do not gel well with the flow of the film.iii

4) As the film runs on two parallel tracks, it becomes a bit confusing and there are many loop holes in the script and several questions are answered only during the climax for the normal audience.iv

Verdict :

On the whole, ‘Naalo Okkadu’ is a very fresh and innovative concept for all Telugu viewers. Siddharth’s performance is the main highlight of the film but the slow narration and no basic entertainment will not go well with regular audience. People who like to watch new kinds of film can give it a shot, well rest of them can wait till the flick is aired on the televisions.

1) Firstly full credits to the debut director Vamsi Krishna for giving a paisa vasol worth watch entertainer by mixing some decent comedy in good doses and pretty decent twists in every regular intervals. These type of stories need a good narration and the director has succedded in the way he has narrated the script without any confusions and fuss. The way he has handled the last 20 mins of the film requires a special mention. He has come up with a fresh content and has given the scope to the actors to perform maximum emotions along with the kidnap drama. Overall Vamsi Krishna does pull off the task convincingly and he is a talent to look out for in the future with good films.

Director Vamsi Krishna @ Dongata Movie Logo Launch Stills

2) The twists in the film are the biggest plus of this film as they have been executed pretty well on screen. The screenplay is pretty decent and that is what has made these twists engage the viewers to the proceedings. Though one or two of them are a little predictable, the overall effect is good as it glues the viewers to their seats. Especially the twists at the climax are handled to perfection.2

3) After ‘Run Raja Run’, handsome actor Adivi Sesh plays yet another shrewd con man role to perfection as he is pretty convincing as the guy with a hidden agenda. He has the ability to change his body language depending upon the character and he has done his part with ease. Especially his performance and dialogue delivery in the climax conversation episode is praiseworthy. Sesh is surely bringing out the talent in him from every movie of his and is sure to get into the star league if he gets some good scripts.3

4) Manchu Lakshmi has done a good job as a rich and spoilt actress in the film. She perfectly fits the character of Shruthi and justifies her role by dealing with different things like comedy, glamour and emotions in the film. Her performance in the second half is quiet good. She has even tried some stunts and dances too in the film and pulls off her part convincingly.4

5) Madhunandan and Prabhakar have done their best to keep this kidnap drama more entertaining and engaging. The duo get a full length role in the movie and they have proven themselves worthy in their respective roles. Madhu periodical punches will surely tickle our funny bones while Prabhakar does both his funny and villainy shades pretty convincingly.5

6) Brahmanandam as private detective Brahmi, the man on fire was amusing enough to pass off the first half with his funny lines and mark comedy. Brahmi’s scene with Rana is an added plus to the film. The comedy episodes between Pragathi, Brahmi and Pruthvi have contributed their best to elevate the entertainment track and will connect with the masses. Rest of the cast including Giri Babu, Annapurnamma, Jaya Prakash Reddy, Sandeepthi, Prabhas Sreenu and others were good in their respective roles.

Dongata Telugu Movie Stills

7) The breakup song in the second half is a special attraction to the film. This song which has 10 stars dancing along with Manchu Lakshmi- Nagarjuna, Ravi Teja, Manoj Manchu, Simbu, Nani, Rana, Navadeep, Sushant, Sudheer Babu and Tapsee.11057860_746673722113574_8141622070881424215_n

8) The first half of the film has some healthy comedy with Brahmi, Pruthvi, Pragathi and Madhu Nandan along with Sesh and Lakshmi. The interval bang is exiting and gives the necessary twist to the film. The second half moves on a emotional note and towards the end the climax has some superb twists.8

9) The songs by multiple music directors Sai Karthik, Satya Mahaveer and Raghu Kunche were good to listen. The background score composed by Sai Kartheek is really appreciable and has taken the film to a decent level.

Hyderabad: Telugu movie Dongata song shooting in Hyderabad. (Photo: IANS)

10) Dialogues written by Sai Madhav Burra are another plus for the film as they look very spontaneous and have enhanced the situational comedy of the film. They also have a good inner meaning in some of the emotional dialogues.10

11) Cinematography by Samala Bhaskar is pretty good which has shown the film in good light. The songs are shoot beautifully especially the star studded break up song was wonderful on screen. Choreography of the songs by Raghu and Brinda are nice.

12) SR.Sekhar’s editing is good and tight, maintaining the run time of the film to a required length. Production Values of Manchu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd are fine.12

Verdict :

On a whole, ‘Dongaata’ is cool time pass watch in this hot summer season with some nice treatment, good music, lovely performances, nicely conceived twists and healthy comedy. It is surely gonna be a successful venture in the list of the small budget flicks making it big at the box-office!!

0 584

1) The biggest minus point for this film is the narration of the script especially in the second half. There is no minimum clarity of what’s going on in the film and it’s story right from the beginning. The movie heads back and forth in time and the way the period drama is connected with the main story is very poor and boring. The treatment of the movie is sluggish and neither of the two episodes are executed perfectly with clarity.12) The screenplay by Kamal Hassan is another bigger drawback of the film. It just keeps bogging down whenever the film goes back in time. The transition of scenes between 8th century and present time are very abrupt and very poorly handled. The story selected by Kamal was good but the the point which he wanted to say that a ‘hero can be a villain and in a role reversal, a villain could well be a hero’ was not exactly said or understood with this film.2

3) Next is the editing by Vijay Shankar. With more than 172 minutes of duration, the film becomes all predictable and boring towards the end. There are a number of scenes in the second half which could have been easily chopped off to make the film crisp and clear. The connection from one scene to another is missing which makes the story unclear to the viewers.3

4) This film has absolutely no entertainment values. The movie had much chance to chip in with some funny comedian episodes, but it fallatered with long sequences which fail to evoke even a small bit of laughter. The film had scope for some wonderfull emotional scenes too but even this aspect was not properly taken care off as they were quiet normally passed away in the film.4

5) Ramesh Aravind’s direction too was not upto the mark. Kamal’s passion to deliver something new and innovative was not properly shown on screen by the director as he made a mess of the script. He has hadled the the climax block very well but that was not enough to score some points. He could not maintain tight control over narration which he needs to look upon in his future films.5

6) Kamal Hassan too did not have anything new to perform this time except for the Kathakali episodes. He was briliant in the Theyyam episodes and his performance in the closing stages of the film is top notch but we could not see any thing new in the other character as he was pretty ordinary in the role as a Super Star.

Rajendra Prasad @ Son of Satyamurthy Audio Launch Photos

7) Pooja Kumar looks smoking hot in the film but she tends to go overboard at places which made her look a bit artificial in the period story especially. She was not convincing enough as Karpagavalli and her character was baseless without proper justification given in the 8th Century portions.7

8) Except for the fact that both Late K.Balachander and K.Viswanath are iconic filmmakers and Kamal has immense respect to both of them, there is nothing much to talk about these both legends in terms of their performance in the film. It could have been excellent if they were used to the larger extent in the film to give a perfect emotional touch than the original. This film just looks like Kamal’s guru dakshina to both his mentors.8

9) Nassar as King Muthyala Raju is simply wasted in a meaning less role. His character will never evoke a single smile in the film and his performance is too silly too watch on the screen too.9

10) The computer graphics used in the film are of very bad quality. They are neither realistic nor wonderfully shown on screen. The overall effort you put on the film is wasted when a person can easily identify the poor VFX shots on the screen within no time.10

11) Cinematography by Shyamdat is just below average. Except for some scenes of the dance forms, there are no major attempts made by the camera department to enhance the overall impact of the story. Songs in the film are also not that good as none of them are catchy.11

12) The first half of this film runs at a very leisurely pace without any entertainment. Except for some cine buffs and Kamal die hard fans, no one will majorly be involved with the story in this half of the film. The second half of the film suffers from slow pace and extra melodrama which lacks momentum.12

Verdict :

Overall ‘Uttama Villain’ is definitely a below average film and will not have a place in Kamal’s best films both in terms of acting and scripting. The dance form used in the film, ‘Theyyam’ is an outright wrong selection for the Telugu audience and one has to have real patience to watch the whole film. On a whole this film is neither an art film nor a commercial film!!

Thumbs up :

1) The main plus of this film is Raghava Lawrence who carries off the entire film on his own shoulders. He has evolved as an actor over the years and this film takes him to another level because of his outstanding comic timing and the way he portrays various shades of acting. All his scenes with Kovai Sarala evoke superb comedy. He has played a number of characters on the same screen with tremendous ease making audience to sense the differentiation with each of them and is particularly good as Gundu Siva.1

2) Lawrence also has succeeded as a director to a large extent with this film. Even though he has tried an already tested formula, the way he had designed the characters, used his heroines with different characterizations and executed the plot with balanced dose of comedy and horror ingredients is worth mentioning. No doubt Lawrence has mastered the art of mesmerizing the masses as he always gives the best to satisfy them. He is also decent as the choreographer with his dances in the film in both the songs.2

3) Tapsee has given one of the best performance of her career in this movie as sheds her bubbly girl image to do a complete contrast character in this film. She chips in with a full-length role and is a perfect fit for as a program director who goes ghost chasing for her channel. She also looked glamorous in the songs and has done a decent job in the evil character too.3

4) 2015 seems to be a fantastic year for Nithya Menen as this talented actress is impressing everyone with each of her films. And this film is no exception. She was splendid as a physically handicapped girl Ganga. Eventhough her role was a short one, she makes her presence felt with her immence acting abilities. She was especially good in all the emotional scenes.4

5) Kovai Sarala once again impresses as Lawrence’s funny mother in the film and gives some funny expressions during the horror scenes. The comedy track between Lawrence and Kovai Sarala is thoroughly entertaining and perhaps, the best in the series. Jaya Prakash was good as the baddie in the film. Manobala, Suhasini Maniratnam, Pooja Ramachandran, Renuka, Bhanu Chander and Sriman played their part well.5

6) Dialogues by Shashank Vennelakanti were all right and will impress the masses to a great extent. First half of the film was handled in a perfect way with some thrilling horror scenes and nicely etched comedy scenes. Especially the pre interval scenes were way better than any scenes in the first two parts.

Rajendra Prasad @ Son of Satyamurthy Audio Launch Photos

7) The background score by S.S.Thaman is pretty decent and elevates the horror scenes to the next level. Production values of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Productions were grand giving a rich look to the film.7

Thumbs down :

1) Raghava Lawrence once again follows the same formula of a ghost getting into the body of a character who dies because of few selfish people and how it turns to a ghost and takes revenge later. While Lawrence touched the empathetic topic of Hijras in ‘Kanchana’, here he took the story of Ganga who is a physically challenged woman and while ‘Muni’ had 1 ghost, ‘Kanchana’ had 3 and now ‘Ganga’ has 5. That’s the only difference in the plot and rest all remains the same with the execution.i

2) The second half the film is a main drawback of the film as the story becomes extremely predictable in this part of the film. Except for Nithya’s performance there is nothing much interesting during this part. The flashback episodes which were major highlights in the first two installments is below average in ‘Ganga’ and this episode is also dragged to the core.ii

3) The climax of the film is another biggest let down in the film. Lawrence just drags the film with unnecessary scenes and complicates the climax. Once the climax becomes predictable after the pre climax, the climax should have been ended in a lighter note but the Lawrence exaggerates with over the board scenes and tests the patience of the viewers.iii

4) Screenplay of the film is superb in the first half but bogs down completely during the second. The racy screenplay in the first half becomes dead slow in the later half of the film. Good writing of second half would have helped the movie becoming a much bigger hit.iv

5) The movie is undoubtedly aimed straight for the front benchers as the film is high with loud comedy, loud background score, loud acting. Everything about this movie is loud which might not work well with the A class viewers.v

6) The visual effects showcased during the climax are over the top and are of no use to the film. It could have been more effective if Lawrence concentrated on the concept rather than the poor quality

7) Technically, the film has nothing different or fresh to offer as the songs, cinematography and editing never impress the audience in any way. In fact the film looks like a TV serial at places with some poor technical values.vii

Verdict :

On a whole ‘Ganga’ is an out and out mass entertainer which will go well with the B & C centers as the film is worth their money. But the routine screenplay, poorly handled second half and over the top graphics will not be appreciated by the A center audience. And just when you feel that the series has come to an end, Lawrence comes up with the first look of ‘Muni 4’ towards the end of the movie.

0 220

1) The main point you talk after watching this film will obviously be about director Sudheer Varma. This director has got some shear talent with some wonderful grip over the technical values that are required for a film. Coming to this film, he has done a decent job with a stylish presentation of the script and super stylish presentation of Chaitu and co. Some robbery scenes in the film shown Sudheer’s ease in dealing scripts like these which are professionally well executed too. His sensible comic touch and unique style of film making will surely impress the viewers.1

2) ‘Dohchay’ has a lot of thrills and frills which were executed very well. The first half of the film looked breezy with some time pass comedy and some thrilling moments. The interval bang is connected nicely and the second half was ok with some comedy here and there.2

3) Naga Chaitanya looks cool and ultra stylish in the movie as a con man. He is surely improving with each of his film and he has improved a lot with this film with his acting abilities. He showcased a lot of variations in his acting and has given a subtle performance. He sports a toned look with a new hair style and carries himself well in the romantic as well as emotional scenes.3

4) Lanky beauty Kriti Sanon looked gorgeous in the film and has given a settled performance in a tom boy character. Her glamour is a big asset for the movie and she she has done full justice to her character, in the second half especially. Both Naga Chaitanya and Kriti Sanon make a wonderful onscreen pair and their chemistry was refreshing.4

5) Posani Krishna Murali was superb in his role as the main villain of the film. He has shown variations as per situations for his role and his scenes with Viva Harsha and his gang are hilarious. Saptagiri episodes are best example of intelligent comedy and he delivers the knockout punch as a lawyer in the closing stages. Ravi Babu has been used cleverly as a cunning police officer and brings a lot of depth to the film.5

6) Richard Prasad’s cinematography is another major asset to the film. His framing is exceptional and it actually elevates action scenes and songs. Special credits to the songs in this film as they are shot with high technical values. He has given a bright, colorful and refreshing look to the film with his camera work.Rajendra Prasad @ Son of Satyamurthy Audio Launch Photos

7) The chase scene in the climax and the stunts deserve a special mention. All the action scenes look good on screen and have been choreographed superbly by Peter Hein and Kecha Khamphakdee.7

8) Sunny.M.R’s album was cool and trendy to hear. ‘Nachhithe Ye Panaina’ and item song by Madhurima along with Brahmi ‘Aanati Devadasu’ are the pick among the album. His background score is also refreshing and suited to the mood of the film.8

9) A few dialogues evoke few smiles and are meaningful. Some lines like, “Manchitanam vinadaniki cheppadaniki tappa brathakadaniki panikiraadhu ani ardam ayyindhi” and “Road midha ammayini edipisthunte kapadaniki Nagarjuna ravali raa niku” and many more are well written.9

10) The production values of BVSN Prasad are top notch and the film looks rich.10

1) Dohchay is along the lines of the 9211 (short film) and has similarities with films like Raja Natwarlal, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, Love Actually, Run Raja Run where we see the hero doing thing the way to set things right.i

2) The film lacks repeat value as it is suspended between being an outright comedy entertainer and a subtle crime comedy. The ‘Swamy Ra Ra’ flavor can be observed in this film too as there are many similarities in both these flicks. Except for few scenes, the film lacks in entertainment and mass elements to woo B and C center audience.ii

3) The movie starts with a bank robbery and this episode is connected directly at the pre-interval as the interval bang which is not that thrilling. The second half where the hero escapes from the clutches of police and the villain should have been engaging and serious but it was dealt on a plane note.iii

4) The romantic track between Kriti and Chaitanya could have been dealt with in a more comprehensive way. Kriti Sanon accepts Chaitu’s love without even knowing or checking his background. She doesn’t even question Chaitu when she gets to know that Chaitu’s father is a prisoner.iv

5) Some unrealistic situations and extreme cinematic liberties took the toll on the logical justification for this film. Some of them like, Why does an actor help a thief who wants to take revenge on a police? How will a CI arrange 4 crore rupees of his own money just to catch a crook? The Home Minister’s PA thread is also too unrealistic as it lacks proper justification.v

6) Just like the situations, the characterizations of various artistes too is superficial. Pooja Ramachandran’s role as the hero’s sister is not justified and has no major connection with the story. Brahmanandam’s role as Bullet Babu lacks substance and he was seen in yet another meaningless

7) Rao Ramesh is routine and was wasted in a small role. The rest of the cast including Praveen, Satya, Viva Harsha, Sudarshan, Prabhas Seenu, Jeeva, Chalapathi Rao, Jogi brothers, Sana had nothing much to do in the film.vii

8) Karthika Srinivas timely editing could have improved the overall effect of second half. The first 30 minutes or so in the second half look a bit bored.viii

9) Naga Chaitanya worked hard on his dances for this film. Though he tried some tough dance moves, the required grace and proper expressions were still missing.x

10) None of the songs really work in the film as they were not properly placed into the script. Even though they were shot wonderfully, the songs go un-noticed.xi

Verdict :

Overall technically, ‘Dohchay’ is a satisfying product for its stylish taking. But if you take it on a whole, this film is an average flick with a slightly slow second half. On a whole this is a one time watch time pass entertainer mainly for the multiplex audience.

1) The main highlight of this film is the brilliant chemistry between the lead pair Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menon. This film is the perfect example of what magic can two outstanding actors can do and their pair in this film is one of the most sizzling pairs you’ll get to see in recent times. The duos make a sugary cute romantic pair onscreen with the vintage Mani Ratnam’s frames and scenes.1

2) This film will surely remind you of the old Mani Ratnam and this is a perfect come back for him. His narration and casting are the biggest assets of this film. The way he tackles and showcases the issue of live-in relationships along with the present day youngsters mindset is worth mentioning. The way he has blended the importance of family releationships through Ganapathy and Bhavani characters is also quiet appreciable. He just sticks to the roots in terms of concept, content and narration which in turn gives out a breezy love story. He once again proves that he is just not a master at making just not love stories but he is worth making some class apart classic movies.2

3) Dulquer Salmaan (son of Malyalam star actor Mammooty) is the heart and soul of the film. Technically, this is his 17th film but he makes his debut in Tollywood with ‘Ok Bangaram’. He is the perfect match for the role of Aadhi as he does his role wonderfully with ease. The way he emotes his expressions is pretty natural and his entire persona is simply irresistible. This guy is surely gonna be the dream boy of several Telugu girls for a very long time as he looks quiet handsome and cool with his looks.3

4) Nithya Menon is no doubt the show stealer of this movie. Give her a character which has scope for acting, Nithya will give you the best for that particular character. And this what she does in the film as Tara. She takes it above perfection level with her charm and sensuousness. She is one of the blessed actors in the industry at present to have some shear talent and wonderful acting abilities.4

5) Prakash Raj and Leela Samson were decent in their roles. Their track was elegant enough and adds value to the lovestory of the lead pair towards the end. Prakash Raj is asusual at his best and Leela Samson does her role realistically as the Alzheimer’s patient. Kanika cameo was fine. The rest of the cast have also been well picked and they do their job well.5

6) The first half of the film works well on the chemistry between the lead pair, awesome camera work and mesmerizing music. They way the love sotry is hadled with Mani Ratnam’s mark conversations is what makes the first half a decent one. The pre-interval episode was interesting and the interval part is good. 7) Cinematography by PC.Sreeraam does not need reviews. His camera work and frame selections are always stunning. Even in this film you get to see some outstanding visuals from this top most Cinematographer. His choice of lighting and the visual depth is simply superb.7

8) AR Rahman’s contemporary and foot tapping music is very refreshing. His unconventional background score has infused life into many scenes. ‘Mental Madhilo’ and ‘Rara Aathagaada’ are the pick among the songs. Siri Vennala’s lyrics are apt for youngsters.8

9) The gaming animations which are shown in the film require a special mention as they are showcased quiet brilliantly and they have added a contemporary touch to the film. The production values of Madras Studio are fabulous.9

10) The dialogues in this film are wonderfully written. Especially the cute little conversations between the lead pair and Prakash Raj’s simple line are nicely written. Sreekar Prasad editing was fine.10
Verdict :

On a whole ‘Ok Bangaram’ is a classic urban love story where in a young couple discover the true meaning of love. 1) The main plus of this film is the big exceptional star cast present in the film and their gripping performances. Trivikram should be credited for coming out with a huge star cast of about 42 senior artists and extracting the maximum out of them for a meaningful family entertainer. They way he has connected each character to his script is worth mentioning.1

2) The first half of the film starts off on an emotional note with the hero narrating his flash back. The first half looks ok with some wonderfully picturized songs and a good romantic track between the lead. The interval challenge scene was good and the second half is the main highlight of the film. Upendra, Rajendra Prasad, Nithya Menen and Brahmanandam light up the film with their performances along with Allu Arjun. A decent second half, a simple yet important twist towards the climax and an emotional climax at the end give a happy ending to the film.2

3) Allu Arjun is growing in tons as an actor and is proving his mettle with every film. His versatility in acting and emoting of various expressions is impressive. He has given a restrained performance in the movie and has suited the character well. Besides his comic timing and dance moves, Allu Arjun proves that he can actually get tears in your eyes with his brilliant performance in the emotional scenes too.3

4) Samantha apart from looking cute and hot, she was lively in this film. She has given a decent performance as a diabetic patient and has particularly done well in all her comedy scenes with Allu Arjun and Ali. She also provided the required glamour content to the film in the songs.4

5) Nithya Menen and Adah Sharma too were good in their short and sweet roles. Adha Sharma will be seen in the first half while Nithya comes in the second half. Both of the looked bubbly in their respective roles and also added up the glamour quotient in the songs.5

6) Rajendra Prasad does complete justice to his role with his very matured performance and he carries the film on his shoulders, especially in the second half with a very important role in this film. He makes you laugh, think, hate and even cry with his exceptional portrayal of his character.Rajendra Prasad @ Son of Satyamurthy Audio Launch Photos

7) Kannada super star Upendra comes in second half and has done his role as with ease. He has delivered a settled performance and his intensity in the action episodes is amazing. He looked ferocious with his full fit and fabulous body and will surely charm you away with his mere presence. He was aptly supported by Sneha as his wife and the dialect used for both of their language was good to hear. Sneha too was elegant enough in the limited role she was given.7

8) Brahmanandam is as usual at his atmost best and his scenes in the second half will evoke the much needed comic relief in the theaters. Other comedians Ali, Late M.S.Narayana and Vennela Kishore too evoked a few smiles here and there in the film.8

9) Vishnu of ‘Prema Ishq Kadhal’ fame bagged a good role as Allu Arjun’s friend in the movie. Chaitanya Krishna of ‘Chandamama Kathalu’ fame also looked decent in his very small role as Nithya’s love.9

10) Prakash Raj’s character is the backbone of the script and he does well in his limited scenes given to him as the hero’s dad. Rest of the cast including Rao Ramesh, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sampath Raj, Pavitra Lokesh, Sindhu Tolani, Baby Vernika and all the remaining artists have done their parts pretty decently.10

11) Devi Sri Prasad music is the biggest asset of the film. All the songs were aptly connected with the story and special credits to the lyric writers for some outstanding lyrics. Devi’s background score also was superb and takes the film to a another level. All the songs were catchy and shot well too.11

12) Prasad Murella’s cinematography is wonderful. The way he has shown Barcelona in the first song, grandeur of the Kokapet set and rugged atmosphere of Tamil Nadu is worth mentioning.12

13) Trivikram tries his best to explain how a father plays a significant role in shaping up their son’s career and is successful in his attempt. The way he has shown the declination and attitudinal change in Allu Arjun from the son of a rich tycoon to a young guy heading the family duties is quiet appreciable. This time he concentrated more on preaching with brief illustrations from Bhagavad Gita and Maha Bharatha giving a philosophical touch to the film.13

14) As ever Trivikram’s dialogues are a million dollar investment to this film. Certain dialogues which define human values have been written with a lot of depth. One cannot simply appreciate this talented writer in words for his immense writing abilities. The way he has executed the plot with a simple story is worth mentioning and his treatment of the simple story line with his unique style of writing that has made this film a decent one.14

15) Editing by Praveen Pudi was good as none of the scenes will bore you. Choreography of the songs was fresh on screen. Art Direction by Prakash and Stunt composition were great. Production values of Haarika Hassine Creations are just dazzling.15

Verdict :

Overall ‘S/O Satyamurthy’ is a clean family film with no filthiness and is worth your ticket and pop-corn. With some decent performances from the whole cast, superb dialogues, lively music and good visuals the film is a must watch for every kid who gives respect to his father !!
